Tiny problem: the security barricades are pretty narrow. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to fit through the barricades either going out onto Floridian Way, or back into Park 2.True, but there's a new article out giving new details about the parade plans, which is what the OP was posting.
My question is, why can't they drive the floats back to the storage barn via Floridian Way? If they exit the park back by Toontown, they'd be able to drive out the MK access road, along Floridian Way, and back into the park via the gate near the parade storage area. By GMaps pedometer, this distance is only 0.6 miles (the parade route gate-to-gate is about 0.45 miles). A float running at 5MPH (just a guess, no idea what the actual max speed is on the floats) would cover that in about 7 1/2 minutes. I'd guess that the entire parade could cover that distance in about 20-30 minutes.
Yes, it's a public road, and cast members use it, but with enough prior warning to the CMs property-wide, it wouldn't make too big of an impact to close that stretch for half an hour. (They do it nightly during Wishes anyway, don't they?)
The road is plenty wide enough for the floats. The only thing I can think of that would keep this form happening would be if there's something along the route that the floats couldn't drive over, perhaps the security barriers at the entrance to the access roads?

Well, the biggest part of the barricade is actually in the ground. However, there are some fairly permanent poles and such that narrow access down to one lane on each side of the road, along with associate sensors and signage. It's possible, though very unlikely, that the above-ground portion of the barricade system could be temporarily dismantled.Yeah, I was afraid of something like that. I know they're barricades, and deisnged NOT to move, but just how permanent ARE they? Are they something that could be dismantled/changed for a 2-3 week period?

In my opinion, they should put all their effort into finding a way to show Spectro, and concede the atrocious DDCT parade (if there is any way for Spectro to be feasible through all of this). I wouldn't mind missing DDCT at all, but Spectro is a different story...
