Since I'm a newbie, I don't really know if this has been extensively discussed, or mentioned at all, but does anyone know the real reason why disney decided to forget the MGM title and the Center title?

MGM is still used and the center was dropped when they updated future world.
MGM is only being used during the current transition phase we're in right now... ie. the studios will be called: The Walt Disney Studios Florida in the near future. as for Center being dropped from Epcot, it also used to be EPCOT Center, now it's just Epcot. People got used to calling it Epcot (like FedEx;Federal Express) so disney gave in.

I believe the reason why its now Disney Studios is becuase the MGM Film Making companys contract with disney has expired and that might signal the closing for GMR-Great Movie Ride
