ABC Names Fessel Research Chief
(MediaWeek) -- ABC Television Network announced Monday it named Andrew Fessel its senior vp of research, effective immediately. A longtime research executive, who actually got his start in the business 25 years ago at ABC-owned KGO-TV in San Francisco, essentially replaces Alan Wurtzel, who left ABC about two years ago when the research position was moved out to Los Angeles. Wurtzel now heads research at NBC. Most recently, Fessel was vp, wireless Internet intelligence and business development at Telphia, a San Francisco-based firm. His research experience includes stints at Arbitron, Fox Broadcasting Co. (where he headed research), Dreamworks SKG Television and Microsoft interactive Media Group. Fessel will relocate to Los Angeles for the new position.
