Hey everybody, I came across this and was wondering... do y'all know if this is still sittin' around? I think I read that these were taken somewhere behind EPCOT, in 2012? I just found this extremely intriguing. If anybody's got anymore info, that'd be great.

Thanks! :)

PS No, I ain't gonna go where I ain't allowed (I'm not one to often the break rules, ha) and if this thread isn't in the right locale, feel free to move it!

Why are there two very new speakers there too? Was there a presentation here or something?

"Behind this fence holds the wonders of our beautiful vintage theme park objects that we shall let sit and become trash.."

I only see one, but yeah, I noticed that right after I posted. That's a very odd place to have an event. Or maybe that was part of a marathon course once. She looks to be in a running position and pushing an off-road stroller. Maybe that's a station or checkpoint along the route. But an off-road marathon?

That doesn't look very "behind Epcot" to me either....but it could be.

Very odd.

Is it too macabre and dark for me to wish they would have crushed half of it under a log and installed it at the "catastrophic mudslide" portion of Kali River Rapids?

EDIT - But then again, I'm the guy who still wishes there was a bloody elephant carcass and full-auto-AK-47-wielding poachers on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Portable stereo, seems to hold up it was a display for a marathon...odd though.

Full auto AKs? Really? That's pretty awesome they would show that. Was it that much detail you could make out it was a ak?

It doesn't really take much to tell if it is an AK. They have a very distinct look.

According to the post, the course started in the Epcot parking lot and went down Woodpecker Lane to Backstage lane. There were a bunch of backlot tour trams parked there for a long time (even visible on Bing maps http://binged.it/1ETKhU1 or http://binged.it/1Hr8tnI ). And there's the JC boat! If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the obsolete lights of winter under the shrink wrap in the background?

Though you are right, there are tons of variations, I was just wondering if they were actual Russian aks..., and they aren't props? Are they functional weapons with blank blocks?

Interesting. And I bet you're right about the LoW

No, they were just props being used by the Harambe Park Rangers on the ride, back when it had live actors.

The poachers jeep was on a track, and you'd hear gunfire directed towards you while they made their escape.
