AAA Dining Plan

Hello Humanoids.


Did a search and couldn't come up with anything so I figured I'd ask...

If I was to go through AAA, do I get a discount on the dining plan as well or not?


I'm currently making a spreadsheet of all the possible options and just would like to know. Thanks.

We made our reservations for our trip this November through AAA and we did not get a discount on our dining plan. I'm pretty sure we didn't last time, either.

You won't get a discount on dining but you will be able to get whatever promotion that Disney is offering at that time. However, if you get a Disney promotion (such as free dining or 40% off rooms) you won't get the AAA discount but they can book it either with the AAA discount or the Disney discount. If you book it through AAA you will also get their AAA card which lets you park close to the park entrance (if spaces are available) that are designated just for AAA. There are a few other perks too that I can't remember right now.

We love AAA but before you decide to book with them check to see if if really saves you anything. We tried last year and it was the same price for us to call Disney and book. And if you book through AAA they "own" your reservation so the only way you can change anything is through them. It just was a lot easier for me to book myself and call Disney at my convience than to wait for the AAA agent to return my call and wait for her to change things at her convience.

Yeah I've done the research, and you're right, it really doesn't save much.. Because of the room prices being at such a discount now.

So then I thought "Okay, book the room through Disney and buy the tix through AAA." Only to find out that in order to get AAA discount on anything, I'd need to book a whole package through them.

That's not accurate.

You can get the AAA discount on a room-only reservation and book with whomever you want ... through Disney, through another travel agency, or through AAA ... doesn't matter. You can also purchase tickets at your local AAA office and get their discount on that.

But if you want to book a package, then yes, you MUST book through AAA itself in order to get a discount on the PACKAGE.

Disney defines a package as a bundled purchase of room + tickets, and then an option on the Disney Dining Plan. Again, to get an AAA discount on a package you MUST book through AAA itself.

But if you want to book a room-only reservation, you absolutely can claim your AAA discount no matter who you book your trip with.

Of course, it's also important to note that the AAA discount is not always available. It's not like having a coupon. Disney only allows a certain percentage of its rooms (by room category, resort, and date) to be booked with the AAA discount. So that's important to note, too, that the AAA discount is not an automatic thing, it's on an availability basis.

We have done both in our last 8 years of disney vacations we have booked throught AAA 4 times we always get a bit of a discount and if the deal gets better the agent modifies our ressie and we get the better price. Prior to spening the last 4 years onsite we used our RCI time share and purchased just park tickets through AAA...we always got a few extras from AAA like diamond parking and other little extras like free mini golf...planet hollywood free meal and and little stuff. Talk to another agent, or call a national AAA number.

Better yet, call Disney at 407-W-DISNEY and tell them you want to book a room-only reservation with an AAA discount ... you'll immediately learn the truth!:wave:

Just one thoght- if you do go through AAA and you have little kids you get the storybook experience as a free perk. It doesn't seem like much but if you do have small children it is really nice. You just call the # and set up a time and then you get a story read aloud by a Disney princess and your kids get a bookmark signed by the princess. It is actually very nice and because it is just a small group the kids get lots of attention. Not sure where they are doing it now but last summer we had Snow White read us a story in the theatre in the back of the Exposition Hall on Main St. We enjoyed it a lot.

I recommend getting your park tickets through Undercovertourist.com. VERY reputable site - we've gotten ours from them (as well as many on this site and those who subscribe to the Mousesavers Newsletter) for several years whenever we choose not to book a package.
