Staying 9/30-10-9
Me and my 3 kids (13, 12, and 4).
We're mainly interested in the parks, not even sure how much I care about the pools.
We have a res at CBR with free dining in a Pirate Room. I've heard those are in the furthest section. Not sure how much time that adds to getting from door to park.
I've also heard Pirate Rooms have same size beds as value resorts.
For $100 less we can get a similar reservation (including dining and PH) at one of the All Stars... and I can't decide... at all! Please help!!
I do want it to be pretty, just not sure about how much pretty matters to three kids. Also not sure what construction means as far as noise, but I feel like that's a non-issue?
Also, for an extra $100... I can stay at Pop... but I feel silly paying extra to stay at a value resort over a moderate.
Again, please help and thank you in advance!!

I would keep your reservation, especially if your kids like pirates. $100 extra is a great deal to move from value to moderate. You said that "pretty" probably won't matter to the kids but it's your vacation too! You are correct that the pirate rooms, which are in the Trinidad South area are furthest from the main buildings and main pool. However, that means you will also be furthest from any construction noise. Your "island" will also have a smaller pool if you don't want to walk to the main pool. As for the buses, they travel in a loop around the property before heading to the parks and there is a stop at each island so staying in the further section will not effect travel time.

We stayed at CBR last fall in Trinidad North (the village next to Trinidad South, where the pirate rooms are located).

I would recommend keeping your reservation, especially if you don't plan on going to Old Port Royale (where the food court is) on a regular basis (meaning, the distance from it won't be an issue for you -- if you don't want to hoof it when checking in and out, there is an internal resort shuttle that circles the resort, which you can take to your village). All of the villages are lovely, the beauty of the resort makes even long walks pleasant, and we found the bus service to be better (faster and with shorter waits) than anywhere we've ever stayed, including deluxe resorts, even with the large number of bus depots.

Yes, the beds in the pirate rooms are full-size instead of queen (the values are all full-size too, as far as I know), but unless someone in your party is tall, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. You will have more square footage in your room than you'd get in a value, plus the coffeemaker, a second sink in the dressing area, and a privacy curtain -- all of which are much-appreciated amenities when a family is getting ready in the morning! We loved our stay at CBR and would gladly recommend it to anyone, construction or no.
