A trip of firsts...

I just returned Monday from my 42nd (yes, you read that right) trip to WDW. You would think that after 42 trips, I could not possibly do anything new. You would be wrong.

We arrived on January 25th at about 9pm to stay at Boardwalk. The rooms are always great there, so we stayed there the entire time. We spent Saturday at Epcot and by the pool before they closed my beloved Dumbo pool for refurbishment (speaking of the pool, it appeared to be a pretty major refurb. Someone might wanna check that out). We ate at Tepan Edo, good as usual.

Now...Test Track Test Track Test Track...they ruined it. My dad called it "worse than when they ruined Imagination." You basically ride on a track with a bunch of flashing lights. Woop dee doo. Designing the car doesn't help either. Sometimes, if you go through Fastpass, they have you do the full design process, and sometimes the process is expedited depending on how crowded it is. The designing process is really not that interesting (that's coming from a technology obsessor) and didn't make the ride any better. All of the road tests are gone...it's just...horrible. Absolutely horrible. Disney is getting a very strongly-worded letter from me about it.

We spent Sunday at AK. It was nice and warm, the animals were all out, and it wasn't crowded. We went to Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom. We ate a Tony's that night. They took off the lasagna and replaced it with something similar, but it was not as good. They spiced up the minestrone too. I got better minestrone at Aulani than there. Don't know why we keep going back.

Now, Under the Sea...I'm going to say something really positive: it was awesome. I think it's a great little girls' ride, and the effects are really cool, such as when you are going under the sea. Though the story is slightly expedited in comparison to the movie, I still really enjoyed it. The animatronics are fantastic. It tends to run between an hour and an hour and a half during the day, so hit it if you get there first thing or at night, as it calms down at night. Alternatively, you can get a Fastpass.

And the light show with the castle...I thought it was really cool. Near the restrooms before Tomorrowland Terrace is a great place to stop. Definitely worth a watch.

We spent Monday at Epcot and ate at Le Cellier. I don't know why so many people don't like it; the food was great as usual. I've never had a bad meal there. Tuesday was Hollywood Studios. We went to Sci Fi Cafe for lunch and Prime Time for dinner. Although we don't like Sci Fi for dinner, it was great for lunch. We were able to walk up and get a table. Lucky. Prime Time is always good. I had the chicken Caesar salad, which I thought was one of the best on property. They make the chicken there instead of refrigerating it, so it was really good.

Wednesday we spent at Magic Kingdom. This was the first time I saw the Beauty and the Beast area, and it looks so great! The Gaston fountain is awesome.

And...we ate at Be Our Guest for dinner! We adored it. The french onion soup was really good. I got the Shrimp and Scallops per the recommendation of our waitress. They were fantastic. My dad got the steak and thought it was good. The desserts...oh my gosh. They were delicious! And the ballroom...I had seen pictures but it still blew me away. I can't wait to go back. We are talking about booking it twice when we go in August for 2 weeks.

Thursday I had college stuff to do since I'm an accepted student at Central Florida. For the afternoon, we went to Disney Quest for the first time. If you haven't gone, I recommend it. We had a blast. My dad thought he wouldn't like it, but he said he had a really good time and would like to go back. Cyber Space Mountain was cool. We went on it three times. The Aladdin virtual reality made me, as well as my mom, motion sick. The Jungle Cruise thing wasn't that good either, but other than that, it was great. We stayed until about 8 pm before heading back to Boardwalk. We ate at ESPN.

Friday I was also doing college stuff. We went to Epcot in the afternoon. My mom and brother went to MK in the morning and reported heavy crowds. They came over to Epcot and we ate at the Chefs de France, which is my favorite on property. Good food and prices as always. And a waiter who was flirting with me. My mother said she doesn't know what it is about me and young foreign waiters (we had one in La Hacienda. I apparently speak Spanish like I'm fluent and from Spain, and the waiter told me my accent was "like music").

Saturday we went to Studios. There was a dance competition going on, but it appeared to be straight competition. Even though the park was crowded, the waits were short. And my dad got picked as the rebel spy on Star Tours (my favorite ride). Now everyone in my family has been picked. He still insists that he works for the emperor, so therefore, when he calls me, Darth Vader's theme song still plays.

Sunday we hit Epcot for most of the day and ate an early dinner at Rose and Crown. Not my favorite, but we were able to eat outside. My parents always enjoy it; I go to snack on the chips. My parents, like good Baltimore Ravens fans, went back to watch the Super Bowl. My brother and I hit MK for extra magic hours until midnight. We got there at 7:30. Wishes was at 8, though we went and rode rides during Wishes. It cleared out after Wishes. We rode over 15 rides while we were there, including Space Mountain twice and Buzz three times. It was cold, but if we walked quickly, we could beat it. Just like the Ravens beat the 49ers.

We went to Epcot on Monday, but had to go home. That was Monday February 4th, in case you didn't want to do the math;). It was a nice day and we were sorry to leave, but my brother and I had to get back to school. Last ride of the trip was Mission Space.

Not too many complaints, except too many Brazillian and Argentinian tour groups in the Studios the first week, and cheerleaders can be, well, annoying. But overall, it was fun.

Oh, and one more thing...staying at Boardwalk? Don't use the hot tub. It ruined my bathing suit and we got a credit to replace it. The chlorine was too high. I'd avoid it for a while if I were you.
