A thought for "new technology" in the parks

I've read recently on various sites, that WDW sees it's future in new technology like Fast Pass.

I have an idea that would make me happy with regard to fastpass in the parks. It stems from a pet peave of mine (so WDW folks if you are reading....:)

One thing that I find annoying in trying to plan your scheduling of fastpasses is not knowing the various return times that are currently being handed out for fastpasses at different rides.

It would be great to have a board (probably electronic), that was linked to the different rides (similar to what they do with wait times on some of the boards you see around the park), that would automatically update both the wait times (electronically- not someone writing it in), as well as the fast pass return times for each of the rides. That way you could look at one location and see what the fast pass return times are for a ride and be able to decide if it's worth running accross the park to get one, or if it's late a return time, you can scan the fast pass board and make decisions on your plan of action.

That would be a really handy thing in IMO.

Taking that a step further...

Have FP kiosks all around the parks that indicate the wait times for each attraction and issue your pass for the attraction of your choice right there.

Pick your time

I would like to be able to go to the kiosks and pick what time I want to go. Why wouldn't it be possible to pick what time you want to go, as long as it is after the minimum. Just something I thought of during our last trip.

It would also be nice to have in-resort guests to be able to customize their tickets and add a Fast Pass option where they get to determine their Fast Pass return times on all the attractions even before they get to the park.

All of those concepts are great. I can live with the way things are now, but Disney will always have plenty of room to be better organized. Although I have to say, I think the planning your trip through an automated system looks good on paper, but in reality it would probably end up causing more trouble than it should. People get so distracted at the parks and there would probably be a lot of complaints because of scheduling conflicts and all that jazz. Most people that go to Disney are unorganized and they play everything by ear. I could put those systems to good use, but the average guest would find it troublesome and too complicated.

I like the idea of the kiosks too!!!! That would really lessen the amount of running around the park! I'm usually the designated fast pass getter, and I'd love to be able to go to a single kiosk, look up the wait times and fastpass return times and make my decisions then and there as to my next fastpass!
Disney - please listen - this would be really great!:sohappy:

I agree in regards to Fast Pass. They really should take all the fast pass stations and make them more like the E-ticket stations at Airports. That way you don't have to walk all the way to the attraction. People could see the times available on one screen, and then people could spend wait times walking to the attraction or eating a meal where they already are.
