A surprise discovery

What's something that you've come across in your interest in Disney and found sort of strange or shocking?

I think my discovery was the original Journey into Imagination music. It's dreamy, but almost like "longing" and saddened. It has a distinct sense of foreboading and some sort of gloom to it. I can see it being very appropriate for the second floor and gallery areas that once existed.. but still.. just not what comes to mind when I think of Figgy.

I know this includes both WDW and DL, but how small Sleeping Beauty Castle was compared to Cinderella Castle. I know is was designed to be small, but not that small. Matterhorn towers over it.

I was wondering theother day aboutSleeping Beauty Castle. I understand their reasons for having it onthe small side, but you have to wonder how much of it ended up being a financial decision. It was already a huge risk to build the park.

I found the fact that the second floor of the imagination building
is closed to be very shocking. I can remember it from when i was
10 back in 85 and can't believe this space is no longer utilized.
What a waste. :veryconfu

Only 53 more days to go!

Yeah, I know! It's like Mario and Luigi from Super Mario Bros!
Sleeping Beauty castle is like Mario because it's short and fat
Cinderella Castle is like Luigi because it's tall and skinny
Isn't that an... interesting interpretation?

It is being used. Just not for guests. It is used as offices and a cast member training area.

I've been up there a couple of time (I was a cast member) and the majority of the stuff is still there. All the large pieces of 'furniture' is still there but all the small items/exhibits are gone. It was kinda a blast from the past. When I saw the rainbow tunnel and I was totally blown away. All kinds of memories came flooding back when I saw it.

As for my shocking moment in Epcot...It's seeing all these hands pointing with one finger. Here's Disney promoting pointing with the hand or two fingers and here I see a one finger point. It's on the the cover of the picture they take for you in the front of the park. Plus there's three signs in American Adventure with the same thing. Shame on Disney for that!

I never took any notice to it,but my dad pointed something like that out last time we were there. we were always told that disney workers must point with two fingers, (same as flight attendents!) because pointing with one was rude.

maybe because itw as a mickey hand we saw pointing with one, and mickey has only 4 fingers. :)

...? A bit confused as to what music you are referring to. I will make the assumption youare talking more about the background music heard in and outside of the ride, and not the actual "One Little Spark" song that they sing. The music seems to vary a lot in the pavillion (or it did), I have a piece of the original background music at JII, which includes a medly of the songs One Little Spark, Magic Journeys, and Makin memories. Throughout the loop, they are all played in many different ways, to indicate the idea of the wide range of imagination. Some of the versions of the music are very bright, and some are more somber, and some are very soft and light. "Polka, calssical, jazz, waltz, and a "new age" music was heard as I remember it, and the music would be heard in both major and minor keys.

I think that the music heard outside tries to bring everyine into the mood that they could experience anything in the pavillion. From whimsical flights to spooky dark scenes, complete with things that go bump in the night, to wonderful dioscoveries in nature and science, to the spectacular world of art and entertainment.

Is that what you are thinking of? Mabey not? :D
