After several years of failing in the ratings, many analysts are now conceding that ABC might be turning the corner. First, ABC had their best premiere of a drama since the mid 90's with "Lost" with some 18 million viewers tuning in. Lost was able to hold onto over 90% of that audience in its second week, which is indeed very impressive. Coupled with the fact that a re-play of those first two episodes on Saturday put ABC on top for that night (probably mostly new viewers for the show), signals ABC has finally got a real hit on their hands.
Well it doesn't seem "Lost" (which is a really good show if you haven't watched it yet) is the only new ratings winner for ABC as the network won Sunday hands down with an impressive premiere for Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal, along with a very strong showing for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition earlier in the night. Considering Desperate Housewives got unbelievable reviews from nearly everywhere, I imagine those that watched will tune back in next week as well.
Of course, a resurgence at ABC is great, but it also unfortunately gives more credibility to Iger who has been in charge of turning around ABC and is Eisner's top choice for the new CEO.
