a off property question

Hi, We are moving down to Kissimee with in a few months and have planned to do Disney. Well since we are going to be living in the area we figure to not stay on property since we can drive to the parks and back home at night. We want to do the dining plan, and park hopper passes, but don't know if we can still get them both while not staying on property. We've always stayed on property on all of our previous vacations.
Any help will be welcomed.

The only way to do the Dining Plan is to stay at a Walt Disney World resort and book a qualifying package. You can purchase tickets without any stay at the Disney resorts.

Good news, however, is that when you become a Florida Resident, you are eligible for discount annual passes which have park hopping built into them. You can also purchase the Tables in Wonderland card, which will give you 20% off most table service and a handful of counter service restaurants in the parks, resorts and Downtown Disney.

You can find the info here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/florida-residents/ (You can use zip code 32830 if it asks you for one)

If you have any specific questions, let me know, I'd be happy to help answer them. We hold Florida Resident Premium Annual Passes and have Tables in Wonderland

So how long do you need to be a resident to get the passes and the Tables?
We are looking to move in by the end of August.
Looking forward to warmth and sunshine.

As soon as you have a Florida ID, you're good to go. That's what they ask for. I think you actually might be able to qualify with a lease or property title even before you get your Florida resident ID or Driver's License if you really want to. But there's no "waiting period" or anything like that. When my parents moved to Florida, they got their DLs in the morning, and their Florida resident APs later in the same morning. TiW didn't get purchased until just before dinner.

One further bit to point out. Although Annual Passes are likely to be your best bet, you can purchase all the same MYW tickets staying off-property as you can staying on-property. The Dining Plan and Extra Magic Hours, however, cannot be replicated if you aren't staying on-property.

Well the good news is that with all the money you save staying at home and getting annual passes you can eat anyplace you want.

Yup, what the above two posters said.

You just need to price out the different options and decide what is best for your situation. A seasonal pass or annual pass is really not much more expensive than what you would spend on a 7 day park hopper pass as a non resident in the grand scheme of things.

For example:

A 7 Day Magic Your Way + Park Hopper Adult ticket, non Florida resident, including tax is approximately $343
An Annual Pass (no blackout dates, park hopper included) Florida resident, including tax is approximately $412

Florida residents also have the option of a monthly payment plan for the annual passes, and there is no additional charge for that.
