I found this on the MLB.com forums and wanted to pass it along:
“Let’s Roll”
No one knew the words to say and I don’t think we ever will
When fifteen minutes short of nine, the entire world fell still.
A hush grew over the borough of Manhattan as they joined hands, together in prayer,
And the rest of the country railed around them, saying “We’re here New York, we care.”
We sat around watching with horror in our hearts while trying desperately to speak,
But all that we could do was remind ourselves that American people are not weak.
The policemen ran around trying to restore order, while the firemen begun the task of cleaning up “ground zero.”
And the people stayed calm while working together, each and every one of them a hero.
Our President led the nation and he was willing to make a bet
That while time will pass as it often does, we will not soon forget.
How on one clear peaceful morning when everything was fine, that a tragedy could come so strong,
Because if bin laden thinks he can destroy our faith by ruining our buildings, well then he couldn’t be more wrong.
This would have been the perfect time for us to be scared and just drop everything and hide,
But the American people did the opposite and they waved their flags with pride.
United we stand and divided we fall, our country was still standing, together as one,
And we were out to show the world that there wasn’t anything that could make these colors run.
Ordinary people became heroes that day and made their American pride well-known,
As many people stepped up to the challenge and out the lives of others before their own.
As we reflect on the one year anniversary, we remember our fallen brothers and our people as a whole,
and we will never forget the words of Todd Beamer, “C’mon America. Let’s Roll.”
I dont know about you, but I thought this was very good.
