A new Ocean based area for AK.

First of all, here me out:

1. This would NOT be an attempt to compete with Sea World. Although SW does have it's educational elements, it is mostly popular for spectacle and shows. AK doesn't seem to utilize that and probably doesn't need to.
2. This be unlike any aquarium/marine exhibition the world has ever seen. It would explore every aspect of the seas: the coasts, estuaries, the open ocean, coral reefs, kelp forests, and even the abyss. Imagine if BBC's The Blue Planet was turned into an extraordinary theme park experience.

The reason I chose the oceans as an area is that it feels more at home in AK than EPCOT. Sorry guys, this would entail The Living Seas be removed (or refocus it on how people utilize the seas). When I went in 2008, I felt kind of bad for the dolphins and manatees, living in really limited spaces. It was also lackluster in comparison to many aquariums I've been to like the PPG in Pittsburgh or even a marine park outside of Hartford,CT.

But, since this is Disney, I'd want this ocean area to be far more than just a glorified aquarium; it'd have some theme park elements in there as well. This would work because there are some species which (a. are too large to keep contained or (b. would die at normal surface pressures.

Indeed, it could have a "mysterious" and "mythological" feeling at points. Indeed, we could make a ride that echos the Beastly Kingdom concept, but with a dash of realism. After all, only 5% of the ocean surface has been thoroughly surveyed.

Enough of my rambling. I'll be working on possible rides or attractions. Feel free to post your own thoughts or ideas.

Hey, another yinzer! Awesome!

Anyway, I've got nothing final yet, but I do have a couple of ideas:
+ A deep sea submersible thrill ride in which guests search for the source of mysterious sounds. For those who don't know, these are sounds which have been picked up by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and have been hard to pin down. While the official theory is that many of these noises are caused by the movement of underwater icebergs, some postulate these could be unknown animals. Some these are:

+ Bloop- first heard in 1997

+Upsweep- first heard in 1991

The ride would take you into the abyss on a recently designed submersible developed for the public. Along the way, you encounter animatronic, robotic, or digital projections of the various weird animals you encounter. Each would placed at their appropriate point in the abyss. But the deeper you go, the more thrills you'll experience; you may even meet the creature making the noise!

Sorry, that's all I've got in my head now. I need to draft some concepts.

As much as I love a good aquarium, I can't see it working in Animal Kingdom. Disney uses it's magic to make it look like the animals are in the wild. Strategically placed Bushes, and Temple Walls, etc, make it look like the animals are roaming free, and you really can't do that in an aquarium. I'd much rather see a North American forest, or Amazon section before we dive under the sea.
