hey guys!
I'm new here on the board, I'm loving this!
I made a special thread about my first time in Orlando, and I have some issues about Universal so I got the information about this topic about Universal, so here I am to ask for your help! :)

First of all, if you guys want to know about my planning trip, here are ALL the details:

well,
I'm planning now Universal Studios & Island Of Adventures Attractions

The "MUST DO" attractions list I've made so far for Universal is:
-Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
-Shrek 4-D
-Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
-Transformers: The Ride
-Twister...Ride it Out
-Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride
-Disaster!
-Men in Black: Alien Attack
-The Simpsons Ride
-E.T. Adventure
-T2 3D: Battle Across Time off view
Universal's Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories

what about a MUST DO list for Island Of Adventures? could you guys help me with it too? :)
-The Cat in the Hat
-The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride
-Poseidon's Fury: Escape From the Lost City
-The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad Stunt Show
-Dragon Challenge
-Flight of the Hippogriff
-Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
-Jurassic Park River Adventure
-Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
-Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges
-The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
-Doctor Doom's Fearfall
-The Incredible Hulk

could you guys help me?
Any of them can maybe consider as a "boring one" even for a first time visitor?
what about any of the others that I left behind, there's any other MUST DO attraction for a first timer? :)

thanks in advance :D

If there's a queue I wouldn't bother with Dr Doom.
If you have time in Universal I think the monster make up show is fun. I know it hasn't changed for 20 years, but you have never seen it before so that doesn't matter.
ohh, thats nice! thank you very much for those tips! gotta look for monster make up show then! :D

Don't forget the Horror Makeup Show at the Studios side!! It's hilarious and incredibly entertaining!!

Now that I think about it, Camp Jurassic and the Jurassic Park Discovery Center should be added. They aren't rides, but they are really fun to explore.

Also, may I recommend dining at Mythos? It is a full-service dining restaurant located at Islands of Adventure in "The Lost Continent". The food is amazing, and so is the theming. And plus, it isn't that expensive!

I'll echo what others have said: Monster Makeup Show is a must-do.

I think Shrek is skippable -- or at least deserves to be very low on your list. Like the last thing on your list.

Mythos at IOA is as close to must-do as dining gets.

Another vote for the Universal Horror Make-Up Show. It's hilarious, fun, and mildly educational... plus the museum in the lobby is full of wonderful treats for film aficionados. Sit near the front if you can! The rest of your list looks solid, though I wouldn't worry too much about Shrek 4D.

EDIT: Also, I feel the Eighth Voyage of Sinbad is skippable... it has some neat stunts, but the story is largely forgettable. Worth seeing if you have time, but don't sweat it.

I forgot to mention you should definitely take some time to explore some of the play areas in Islands, even if you're only travelling with adults... "If I Ran the Zoo" in Seuss Landing is a quick 10 minute walk-through but has lots of fun interactive elements and critters to encounter. Camp Jurassic/Discovery Center are theming havens, definitely worth spending 10 minutes each in if anything just to explore (look for the lava cave and amber mines in Camp Jurassic especially - too cool!) Me Ship, The Olive is a little less interesting (especially after they lawyered it up & removed all of the fun crawl spaces), but the waterfront near it is full of beautiful views and fun, hidden sight gags.

To me, Poseidon's Fury ranked "up there" with Stitch's Great Escape. But other disagree. The rest of your list looks great. Enjoy!

But the water vortex alone is worth going through Poseidon. It is quite cool.

  • Drop Dr. Doom "pun intended" Not much there. Just a plain Jane drop ride.
  • If you are doing Flight of the Hippogriff then might as well do Woody Woodpecker since they are the same except for the annoying Ahehehe Ahehehe.
  • Add Beetlejuice Graveyard Review. I like it and it can be quite entertaining depending on the cast. It is also a good place to get off of your feet for a bit.

I really enjoy Dr. Doom's Fear Fall. The approach to the ride and the overall "feel" it gives off is very intimidating. The queue is awesome, with all of different effects and the doom bots and the funny pre-show video. The initial blast off, the pop of air-time at the top of the tower and the views make it worthwhile. It is a shame that it isn't longer. But as far as theming goes, it has to be one of the best themed drop towers out there, second to only Tower of Terror.
