>>The applicant proposes to construct a 12-story, 326-room Radisson Blu hotel and a four-level parking garage with 347 spaces. The hotel would include amenities on the ground level, including a swimming pool, restaurant, meeting space, fitness room, coffee shop, and gift shop. The top floor would include a rooftop pool, sun deck, restaurant and bar. The roof-top amenities, including the restaurant and bar, are proposed for hotel guest use only.

The 12-story building would be built at a maximum height of 157 feet, including all architectural projections. The hotel building is proposed along Anaheim Boulevard, with the parking structure to the rear, adjacent to the freeway. The hotel is of a contemporary design and would be comprised primarily of white concrete panels with a pattern of punched windows and recesses in the facade. The amenity components of the building would be highlighted with a contrasting dark metal panel material to create defined elements on all facades of the building. The parking garage would be clad with twisting aluminum fins that would create an interesting pattern along the freeway edge. <<

This Hotel is just outside the Resort District, but would be closer than many located in it.

Lots of artwork and drawings at the link.

I stayed at a Radisson Blu in Bangalore last year. Not a bad place, and certainly a step up from the run of the mill motels along Harbor and Katella. The proposed Anaheim property won't win any architectural awards, but I give the contemporary design a thumbs up, especially considering the hum-drum location and the terrible buildings immediately surrounding the property.

While it looks bad, the large complex just east of the Hotel is the American Sports Center, An Olympic Training Facility. And the Hotel expects a lot of business from visiting teams from other countries to play the USA.

>>American Sports Centers-Anaheim, the largest indoor court facility in the world, features 34 volleyball courts which convert into 25 basketball courts. ASC is home to USA Volleyball’s Men’s and Women’s National teams, Southern California Volleyball Association, So. Cal. Indoor Volleyball Hall Of Fame, Open Gym Premier Basketball Academy and Tournaments, Double Pump NCAA Basketball Viewing Events, SGV Basketball Tournaments, Queen’s Court High School Volleyball Tournament and a growing number of local basketball, volleyball and other court sport events.<<
