A little confused.

I ran across this CAREER-START PROGRAM pamphlet, and decided to apply through the site. After doing some homework with both the site, and various forums – I am a bit confused.

It sounds like it, through the various forums – that this is more geared toward 18 year olds (kids that just got out of high school). The pamphlet I have in my hands says out of high school or 48 months after the fact. I graduated in 2003, so I just made that marker. But now I am seeing reports that it’s toward kids that graduated 18 months after the fact. Which one is it?

And, if I did make the marker – will it apply to this summer (since I want to work at Disney ASAP, ride the five months, and then permenatily move down there).

I'm not really sure, but if anything, going to WDW and getting hired into a position equal in status (and higher in pay - they deduct housing and such) to the Career Start isn't terribly hard. Career Start doesn't put you in any special position for promotions or anything and it starts you at the entry level that is open to everyone.

I know it's probably easier to transition from a distant location to WDW's area via the Career Start because they'll give you a home for 5 months, but people work for Disney and make a living starting at the bottom so it's certainly possible to do so without the Career Start.

Ideally...yeah...I just want that foot in the door, "try it out", and be able to earn my stripes from the getgo...when I burn those five months, then I can work on finding an apartment, and settling down. I live in Michigan, I don't know anyone in Florida, and I know it takes time to find an apartment, so using this route, I know I have I am "safe" (and it also slowly but surly gives me a chance to learn how to be independent, without worrying about the "heavy" bills just it!)

Just questioning what the actual marker is (18 months or 48 months), and also when I can get down there. I am anxious, ready to quit my two jobs at any second!
