Welcome to my first pre-trip report! This trip has been two years in the making and I’m happy to say it’s defiantly going to happen. I say defiantly because it’s been going back and forth over going or not going for the past two years as well. But enough of that let’s get on with this thing.
The Why: For my 21st Birthday.
The Who: Ashley (Me)- The 20 year old English Major who is Disney obsessed. (I’ll add pictures later when I find the time).
Dad- Also obsessed with Disney and our resident thrill seeker.
Mom- Puts up with our obsession but loves Disney as well.
The Where: Pop Century between 1/6 and 1/14.
We are driving from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Florida. 17 hours is nothing too difficult for this family; we’ve done it four times before this. We’ll be leaving January 6th to stay down at an undecided hotel (I know we are last minute people) for two days before heading to Disney. On the 7th we decided we are going to Universal for the day so I can see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Needless to say I am nerd raging over that already. After that we’ll be heading off very early on the 8th (My Birthday) to the world to pick up our passes and head off to the Magic Kingdom for the day.
There’s a lot of firsts this trip. The main one is I’ve never stayed more than a night at a hotel in my life; I’ve been camping since I was only a couple months old. So I’m a little nervous, I’m used to having my own space and my home away from home to go to. I joke with people and say I don’t know how to even pack lightly because I’m so used to being able to bring everything with me. This is going to be an interesting experience.
We are also using the DDP for the first time. We got it for free with our package and I can say were all excited because it means more food for us as we typically just share one or two meals between the three of us. On top of that, with the whole turning 21 things comes the fact I’m not used to drinking, but what better way to enjoy such a new experience than in the world. Any suggestions on what drinks I should try? I’m going to do Drinks Around the World with my dad, we will probably do half the countries one day and the other half another.
