A few thoughts about the castle and each MK land in my proposed park (please read)

I'm currently in the process of designing the Magic Kingdom park for the 6th Disney theme park that I proposed earlier. The first problem I ran into was determining how much larger to make each section or "land" than the lands at WDW and Disneyland Anaheim. My MK park spans 138 acres of land; WDW's MK covers 107 acres and the original DL Anaheim park covers 87 acres. Trying to figure out the exact land areas of each land to fit the total 138 acres is nearly impossible! Could anyone out here please try to help me out with this?

I have started with Main Street, USA and have a few ideas that I have come up with. As many of us already know, Main Street Cinema and the Penny Arcade have been removed to make way for more stores, restaurants, and retail space. Therefore, I am seriosly considering placing these attractions in the Town Square portion of Main Street; to prevent something like this from happening again! WDW has the Main Street Gallery in Town Square (the former bank location, IIRC), along with the Town Square Exposition Hall and a couple of restaurants. DL Anaheim's Town Square has several shops next to The Walt Disney Story/Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, from what I have read. What are {B][/I]your[/I][/B] thoughts on this. If anyone has any thoughts/ideas/suggestions, please reply.

Also, I'm having second thoughts about the castle. IIRC, the Beauty and the Beast castle we were talking about earlier was the magestic-looking castle after its transformation; when the spell was lifted and the Beast was transformed into a prince! Other than the B&TB Stage Show at Disney-MGM, the Beast always appears as the Beast instead of the prince around the park. I have a feeling this would make the castle rather inconsistent with the costumed Beast character who can be found in the parks. (please correct me if I am wrong!) This may be why Belle's Castle has never been used in DL Paris and the upcoming Hong Kong park. Please let me know what I should do about the castle and what to do with Main Street USA and the other "lands" in my proposed park. I look forward to hearing from you!

Design each land individually, then combine them to get the total land area. Remember: 1 acre= 43,560 square feet

I know how to measure land area, but I have no idea to compare this to WDW's land area-- since I have no idea what the area of each "land" is, and what the 107 acres of the WDW's Magic Kingdom consists of-- the total land area, or the land used by the park (excluding the woods in between the "lands" and the railroad track). Also, unlike virtually everyone here, I've never been to WDW or the other Disney parks, so this is somewhat of a disadvantage to me.

Also, I need feedback about what to do with the castle as well! LMK what you think I should do, so I can get started! :)

Kent, I would like to help you with your land area stuff, but that kind of stuff just isn't my thing:D .

And about the B&B Castle, how about a combination of the two castles from the movie? So then, it's not too dark looking, nor cheery looking. Just a thought.

Sorry, misunderstood the question. maybe you could ask Disney if they can provide any to scale maps. Other than that , I can regretably not help with the areas of the lands. However, I can suggest that you take inspiration from the castles at the other Disney parks and combine them. You don't necessasarily (sp?) need to make it look like a Disney fairytale castle. For instance, Sleeping Beauty Castle at DLP is based on Mont Saint-Michel in Brittany. Also, where did you get the information on how big the parks are?

Lots of different sources-- books, various websites, and also from Disney magazine! As for B&TB castle, I was considering making the castle somewhat like Sleeping Beauty Castle at DL Paris-- although I will add a few features from the movie-- such as that domed area on the left side.

However, my first choice all along was Cinderella's Castle-- but many on this forum thought this was too much like WDW-- which will always be the most-visited of the Disney parks! As a result, I held a poll a while back concerning which castle to use, and B&TB castle won!

Hope this answers your question! :)
