A few questions...

I am planning to go to Universal for just one day this July (probably either 7/16 or 7/17) during my WDW trip this summer.
We will just be buying only the IOA tickets bc my parents and I researched the rides at universal and figured we wouldn't really hate missing any of them.

Would it be worth it to add on the express pass to our tickets? I'm pretty sure the crowds will be high and I thought that they would be helpful to lower our wait time. But I'm still not sure on the whole thing.... Any suggestions? And any idea how long it would take to do all IOA.... I went last oct and it was about a half day for me and my parents to walk it and do rides twice. Do you recommend the express pass and also, does the crowd levels at Universal mirror those of WDW? Just want to figure out what to expect. Thank you!!

Well. If you stay at one of the three onsite properties, you automatically get a free fastpass and I believe you can get in the gates an hour early, just wanted to let you know about that. I think it's worth to get the express pass for IOA since theres lots of rides and things to do there! I think the crowd levels are pretty much the same as Disney. I think you'll be fine going just the 1 day including the fastpass. I don't think Universal Studios is worth going to for the money, IOA is way better.

Good luck and have a blast!

I would wait to buy express until you arrive- save out the money, but only buy them if and when the parks become unmanageable :) That's why I LOVE staying on property.

The prices are NOTHING compared to Disney, and I feel the express pass alone is worth it. The hotels seem to be maintained better, cleaner, and overall more upscale.

So can I buy the tickets now but then get the pass added onto them when we get there? Or should we just get the tickets with the pass at the park?

Thank you everyone for all the help!

You could do either or... I think online you'll get a discount on the tickets that you won't get at the gate. You can always call the park and see what they recommend you do (:

Just a note, you can't use the express pass for Forbidden Journey. If it's crowded, the only way to assure you can ride it is to stay in one of their resorts.
Yes. Their crowds do mirror WDW.

Well ... the newest attraction (Transformers) is in the Studios and that will be open by then and the new Simpsons Expansion will probably be open by then too and that's in the Studios too ... so you may want to re-think the idea of only going to one park or only going one day.
