A few problems I ran into with my proposed Disney park resort (and the 3rd park)

As most of you already know, I am currently working on my proposal for a 6th Disney theme park resort. In my last draft, I added a few more rides and attractions to my Disney Studios park. However, a couple of the attractions, Hook's Revenge and Lilo & Stitch's Hawaiian Roller Coaster, didn't seem to fit into my studios park. For instance, Hook's Revenge was a bit too carnival like for a movie studio-themed park. I am considering a third park eventually, once everything in this park moves in the right direction in terms or profits and park attendance.

Originally, my plan for a third park was a combination water park and Paradise Pier-like dry ride park. However, that turned out to be too weak sounding. I then considered placing these two rides mentioned above in a DisneySea type park (similar to the park in Tokyo). Upon further research and looking into the idea, I learned that DisneySea was more adult-oriented, and had to do with the sea, as well as being more entertainment related; as opposed to California Adventure, which focuses on the state of California, and is movie and thrill-ride related.

For my third park, if/when it gets built, I was trying to come up with something that all of these rides (Hook's Revenge, L&S Hawaiian Roller Coaster; as well as rides such as Jumpin Jellyfish, The Whirlpool, Soarin' over (name of park's location), etc. could fit into while creating a well-themed and well-designed 3rd park that would attract guests. IMHO, even California Adventure seems to be a tad on the weak side!

I had considered a combination of DisneySea and Paradise Pier from CA, but unfortunately, I kept coming up with clashing of very different themes in the rides and attractions. Also, I'm not sure that a California Adventure-like park minus the studios (which are in a separate park) could hold its own at all. I could go back to my original plan; which was a combination Disney Studios and Paradise Pier, but that turned out weaker than any of the other ideas I had listed here!

BTW, Hook's Revenge and Lilo & Stitch's Hawaiian Roller Coaster are two rides I really wanted to place somewhere in my park. Trouble is, I can't find anywhere for them!

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, and/or guidelines for my 3rd park, PLEASE post; since I really could your your help and feedback. I really do look forward to hearing from you! :)

Sounds to me like some kind of tropical island adventure type of theme.

A couple of suggestions:

I wouldn't worry so much about trying to fit it into a current Disney park concept - go for something different.

One way to find a common theme is to think about each ride, and wirte down a list of the type of themes that are there (for instance with Captain Hook you could start off with Pirate, Sea, ship, carribean, etc. - brainstorm). Compare these lists and I bet a common thread will come out. Perhaps related threads (different islands, perhaps) will show up.

Having said that, I would try and start with a theme forst. I find that the ride ideas tend to pop out of that much more easilly than trying to fit a bunch of rides together. Sometimes you will find that the type of ride fits better with another theme after all, too.

Good Luck - sounds cool!

This sounds very much like Universal's Islands of Adventure; which is more teen/adult-oriented than the MK (emphasis on thrill rides), with various, unrelated themes set up on different islands. Not a bad idea at all!

New Park...what should it be???

First of all, I want to make one thing clear. From my perspective, I'm not sure that Disney should build another theme park w/o first optimizing the other four. I think the Eisner years have left the parks devoid of new thoughts and devoid of new magic. I would love to see the new Disney leadership revitalize the existing parks.

OK. Now that that is out of the way, if I could make a wish and create a new park, I would love to see a blending of all four parks into one new park. What I mean by that is that I would love to see a park that offers many thrill rides (like Everest, SM, Splash Mtn, Big Thunder, Test Track, etc.) along with new dark rides that utilize the latest in animatronics, lighting, sound, and ride technology.

Most importantly, the park must feel like a Disney Park. I don't want another "California Adventure" which was thrown together w/o any of the Dinsey themes we long to see. Any new park should have the lush greenery, the smooth flow from one themed land to another, and the exciting build-up for each attraction. Think of the long walk to Everest where the mountain always seems to be off in the distance, giving it the feel of being enourmous and a little frightening.

Also, I would love to see any new park have the food quality and variety of an Epcot.

Finally, it's important to follow the lead of the Magic Kingdom and open the park with all or most of the attractions open and operating. Don't reveal part of the magic and promise that more will come later. Take the time, make the investment and reveal the park in full operating order.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. Long Live Disney Magic.
