A few Christmas Q.

I'm on the early stages of planning my 2014 vacation. We arrive on October 31st and leave (albeit begrudgingly so) on November 23rd. We move on site to Disney on the 11th. I have a few couple of questions for the experts:

When do Christmas decorations usually go up? I know the first MMVCP is usually on Nov-8th or 9th so I might not see the whole transformation from Halloween to Christmas happening.

When the Jungle Parade becomes the Jingle Jungle Parade?

Does the resorts get their decorations at the same time as the parks?

Besides the Osborne Lights, what else is done at DHS?

We were there years ago from Oct. 28-Nov. 6th, and there wasn't much in terms of Christmas stuff, honestly. I remember seeing a few windows in some of the shops here and there decorated, but that was it. There is still Thanksgiving after Christmas, so I believe much of the fall decor stays up for that holiday, and pretty much the day after it's Christmas, much like the rest of the Universe, it seems.

We wanted a few pictures for our Christmas cards that year, so we went to the Christmas store in DTD and did some pics there since they have a little Christmas scene outside year round.

The major thing at the studios are the Osborne light. There are some nice decorations on Hollywood and Sunset blvd. and of course there is a big tree but that is located outside the gates.

When you go to the osbornelightssee if you can find the purple cat it is hidden in a new spot each year. It is fun to find and if you can't find it sometimes the cast members will give you a clue. Apparently it was a Halloween decorations that got mixed in with the isborne's christmas stuff when they shipped it to WDW.

The resort decorations seem to go up between Nov 16-17 most years. I understand these are the dates regardless of when Thanksgiving falls. We checked in Nov 15 last year and the gingerbread structures in place like BC and BW were in construction mode. When we got up on the 17th, YC was fully decorated.

As for the parks, I understand all areas start going through the décor shift after the last MNSSHP. The Dreamlights go up on the castle prior to this, so those are ready to go right away. I understand Osborne Lights is expected to start around Nov 8th...so, it's right in line with the start of MVMCP if that date holds. You can also see the castle lighting on MVMCP nights...so still cool to be in MK around 6:30 to watch that. Also great to watch Holiday Wishes from a place like the Poly beach so you can really see all of the perimeter effects. The only thing you won't see is the MK tree...won't go up until after parade taping.

We were the November 12th-19th in 2012. Wilderness Lodge decorations went up a few days into our trip, literally overnight. We were also able to see the Contemporary decorations, and we got some cookies there. Grand Floridian's decorations/ginger bread house were being constructed at the time, so we just missed those. We did see the Osbourne Lights during our trip, and I believe the park decorations were up as well. Have fun, it's a great time to visit! :)

Thank you for responding! This is great news, I'll probably miss GF's gingerbread house but I'll be able to see a lot of decorations. :inlove:

By the end of the first two weeks in November pretty much everything is up and ready. The candle light doesn't start until after thanksgiving.
