A Disney Realms (IP) park

Just for fun, I'd like to fully develop a concept for a Disney "IP lands" park at Walt Disney World, as an imaginary response to Universal's Epic Universe theme park. Eventually, I might get professional concept art made for it, which I'll share if it happens.

Maybe I'll call it "Disney's Fantastic Realms" - something like that: two words, with "Disney's" before it (like most of the other non-castle parks): "Disney's [adjective] Realms."

I'm not sure how many lands Epic Universe will have ultimately, but at open it'll have 5, if you include the central spinal hub. I'll aim for the same.

Epic-Universe-Map.jpeg

For the weenie of the park, I'd like something like a stargate, nestled in landscaped rock-work, with a very high-definition circular OLED in its frame, perhaps rotating on a vertical axis.

The OLED would show rotating images and video evocative of each land, as well as whatever else might be appropriate (e.g., ads for upcoming movies, etc.). The park's name and logo, too, of course. It'd be like this, but much, much bigger.

I'm not yet sure what else the central hub will include, or what the central hub, as a land in itself, will be named.

Cool idea, the park could be a direct response to Universal. Thus similar to it's competitor like Hollywood Studios (which is a stolen Eisner idea) and Universal Studios, and Harry Potter and Fantasyland (Gaston's Tavern).

I'm not sure about all four of the initial lands, but one land that I'm sure about would be "The World of Frozen," which would include:

1. Arrendale
  • Attractions
    • Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs themed family coaster (as at Hong Kong Disneyland)
    • Sven's Sleigh Ride (like The Happy Ride with Baymax at Tokyo Disneyland, with "Svens" pulling each sleigh
    • Castle walkthrough, meet-and-greet
    • The enhanced Frozen boat-based dark ride being built at Tokyo DisneySea
  • Dining
    • Restaurant in the castle (casual table-service dining, reservations accepted, as is coming to Tokyo DisneySea)
    • Various quick-service options and food stands (I'll skip mentioning these moving forward; you can just assume they're there for every section of every land/every land)
  • Various retail (this will go without saying hereon)
2. The Enchanted Forest
  • Attractions
    • River rapids ride, with views of the Northuldra tribe, the Earth Giants, etc.
    • Something with Bruni, the salamander fire spirit - an aerial carousel perhaps
3. An expansion pad for whatever they come up with for a third movie, etc.

Arendelle

The Arendelle section would have a mix of what's being built in Hong Kong Disneyland and Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea.

Hong Kong Disneyland's Frozen section ("Arendelle: The World of Frozen," opening in the second half of 2023) will have :
  • Frozen Ever After (located in the castle?)
    • Since EPCOT has this boat ride, it's not needed
  • Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs
    • "Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs will be a one-of-a-kind family coaster, taking guests on a winding journey through Arendelle. Each experience on Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs begins when you visit Oaken’s store before Olaf and Sven pull your sled to the top of the lift and send you on your way."

Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs at Hong Kong Disneyland

An earlier alternative concept for Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs was a flat ride, "Oaken's Dancing Sleighs," like the Happy Ride with Baymax (Tokyo Disneyland), Woody's Roundup Ride (Shanghai DIsneyland), and Alien Swirling Saucers (Disney's Hollywood Studios):

I'd add this to the Arendelle section, renamed Sven's Dancing Sleighs, adding Sven to the front of each sleigh, so it's similar to this:

Tokyo DIsneySea's Frozen section of the new port, Fantasy Springs, is called "Frozen Kingdom," and will open Spring 2024:

It's going to include:
  • A unique Frozen dark ride, including this boat, apparently similar to the trackless/chain-less (magnet-guided) boat used in Shanghai for Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure. I believe it'll be built into the base of the North Mountain (atop which will stand Elsa's Ice Palace):

It'll feature advanced animatronic figures, like this one of Elsa (from 1:08):

Frozen Kingdom will also feature a table-service restaurant in Arendelle Castle.

I'd like both DisneySea's advanced boat-based ride and castle restaurant in the Arendelle section of "The World of Frozen" land in the IP park.

The Enchanted Forest

The four elemental obelisks would indicate the entrance into the Enchanted Forest section of the World of Frozen land. Their symbols would light up.

I'd like this section of the land to somehow maintain the beautiful oranges, violets, and reds of the autumnal Enchanted Forest in Frozen II.

Perhaps that can be achieved by using mostly artificial trees (including lots of birches) and a sheer scrim over some parts, on which can be projected the orange-violet-red sky. Or perhaps at times there could be continuous mist pumped over parts the section, with the colors projected thereon.

The river rapids ride would feature scenes from the Northuldra tribe's village, as the water rapids ride in the Native America land of Disney's America would have featured scenes of Native American life.

It would also feature the Earth Giants, both in the rock-work and fully emerged and moving.

Last, for the Enchanted Forest section, I'd want to use Bruni, the salamander fire spirit, for something. Some kind of flat ride, perhaps, featuring him.

Perhaps an aerial carousel like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, but using either Bruni or the ice canoe as the vehicle. If the latter, then a large animatronic Bruni (waterproof, or maybe just a LED-embedded rotating color-changing sculpture of him) could feature in the center, with some kind of color-changing LED fire-like feature (e.g., multiple simulated magenta flames lit by magenta LEDs) to capture how he changes colors and wields his special magenta fire.

Obviously, because of the autumnal sky projections in parts (using fine mist or scrims), and the use of Bruni with artificial fires, the Enchanted Forest section would look best at night.

Central Hub

Perhaps the central hub could be related to the type of timeless images of discovery and exploration that are used in Epic Universe's hub and Discoveryland at Disneyland Park (Paris). Jules Verne, armillary spheres, orreries, astrolabes, etc. Maybe I'll include National Geographic in all of this (an exhibit with a store, etc.).

I don't know much about the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (SEA), but maybe it can partially be themed in relation to them. Lots of Victorian exploration imagery. If there's a hotel at the front of the park, perhaps it'll be Victorian-themed as well, but not necessarily just a riff on the Grand Floridian or the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Park (Paris).

I'd still also want Mickey plugged-in somewhere prominent in the central hub, as his image is on the Ferris wheel at Disney California Adventure in Pixar Pier. It says to me: "This is a Disney park; Disney is the heart of the park, as it is in all the other parks."

I'm thinking the lands will be:

1. Central hub (stargate weenie, Mickey iconography on something prominent, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, National Geographic (minor presence), "timeless exploration" symbols (astrolabes, compasses, Discoveryland steampunk things)

2. The World of Frozen (Arendelle, Enchanted Forest, expansion pad for 3rd section)

3. Something related to Star Wars (the original trilogy; I don't know much about Star Wars, but I know that almost everyone who likes it likes the original trilogy in particular)

4. A Pixar land

5. A Marvel land

I think it's pretty logical that it would include those three (Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel).

Brilliant idea, it could be touted as an explorers and adventurers park.

Oh yeah, Tatooine would be a great choice for a Star Wars Land. So many great events and things took place on Tatooine.

1. It was the original idea they were going to go with for Hollywood Studios before Galaxy's Edge
2. It is the home planet of Luke and Anakin Skywalker
3. Mos Eisley Cantina
4. Jabba the Hutt and his palace
5. Pod Racing
6. Boba Fett was almost killed by the Sarlacc there
7. Obi Wan watched over Luke there
8. home to Sandpeople
9. home to the Jawas
10. The first battle with Darth Maul took place there

I agree. Tatooine is the most recognised location in Star Wars, full of iconic characters, events, and a lot of potential for attractions. Smuggler's Run could easily fit in here; a Podracers racing coaster; Mos Eisley Cantina and Jabba's palace for dining locations.
