Just wondering if anyone has a favorite beach on the gulf side to visit while visiting the world. We are going next Oct, for 11 days and was thinking of doing a day trip to the beach and if we like it spend the night even. It will be myself my wife and our 4 1/2 year old daughter (at the time of trip). Basically just a nice clean beach with some local fun activities for the family to do. Any help would be appreciated.

While Clearwater is the known beach, personally, as a local of over 20 years, I hate Clearwater. I like to go a little further south to Indian Rocks, Reddington or especially Madeira.

Clearwater is too much a tourist/bars sort of place for me. The beach itself is narrow and it's very crowded.

Seeing as we have like 22 miles of unbroken white sand beaches, I see no reason to go the ONE place everyone else does.

And if you want REALLY quiet and much more remote, look into slightly North of Clearwater - Caladesi / Honeymoon Island State Park.

Have fun!

Thank you all, and thanks for the lesser know named beach MissM.

I really dont want a super busy beach and not looking for a tourist type nightmare. Just a great place to spend the day with my wife and daughter and eat by the water and enjoy the day in the sand and water.

We took a day out of our March 2009 WDW trip to do that very thing. We hit up Siesta Keys Beach on the Gulf Coast and I am SOOOO glad we did! It basically had like 3 beaches within a few miles of each other and each one had something different to offer. We stopped at Turtle Beach first and found it not very crowded at all. We spent an hour or so collecting tons of seashells. Then, we all loaded up and headed a bit further down the road to Siesta Public Beach. MAN, what a beach this one was! It has the whitest sand I have ever seen and was very picturesque. Spent the rest of the day there. Pretty sure it was only an hour to two hours tops from Pop Century.
