As some of you know, part of my job deals with local politics, so I get to read a lot of news, and found these worth sharing.
The first is a case of irony, as the American Heart Association is holding its annual convention at the Anaheim Convention Center.

>>
The president of the Dallas-based American Heart Association is recovering after suffering a minor heart attack Monday morning at the organization's scientific conference in California.
John Warner, vice president and CEO of UT Southwestern University Hospitals and president of the American Heart Association, during his presidential address Sunday afternoon. Warner is recovering after a heart attack Monday morning.
(American Heart Association)
John Warner, a cardiologist, vice president and CEO of UT Southwestern University Hospitals, was in stable condition with his family by his side at a Califoronia hospital. Doctors inserted a stent to open an artery, the association said in a prepared statement. <<
Now we need to teach Texas reporters how to spell California (second paragraph).
The second is a story about ART and ARTIC. Anaheim has become the beer brewing mecca in Orang County, with multiple breweries opening up recently. (Heck, we are also a true Horseshoe mecca, as most of the best shoes in the USA are made here).

>>Whether you live in Anaheim’s Platinum Triangle or you ride the train into the ARTIC station to watch the Angels or the Ducks play, you can now hop a bus to places to shop, eat and drink – and it’s free.
Run by Anaheim Resort Transportation, the CtrCity/Platinum Triangle shuttle route launched in late October. Stops include the ARTIC station, Center Street Promenade, Packing District and Olive Street.
The transit agency offers other routes that charge riders to get between Disneyland and area hotels, downtown Santa Ana, Buena Park and other spots. The new Platinum Triangle line is free in an effort to get people who live and work in the area to use it, ART spokesman Justin Petruccelli said.<<
So our city leaders are now trying to take a money earning system, ART, to promote their pet projects, Center City (aka Downtown) and ARTIC. Doubt the line will get much ridership.
I could share all the other craziness, but I will just post one article without comment...
