A couple of questions...

We're going on our first cruise aboard the Dream in August. We have booked the Deluxe Family Oceanview State Room with Veranda. It says it sleeps 5, I'm looking at the Floor plan and I see that it has the bed, pull out couch and the bunk bed. Are they saying two on the pull out couch? I just want to make sure.

Second question about It's a Small World Day Care and reservations. Our youngest will be 3 years old when we go on the cruise, by only a few days. We are in earnest trying to potty train her. If you have to make reservations in advance, do you just reserve the day? or do you have to say specific times at the time of reservation? Do you have to put a deposit or anything else?

I was unaware of the Murphy Bed, I was referring to the couch as the pull out, thinking that it would sleep two in it. However that Murphy Bed is awesome and this set up is perfect. Thank you for the pics and info @DisneyJoe

Sorry @Tom I believe you are incorrect. Those rooms have a bed that folds down out of a cabinet. I cannot see even 2 children sleeping on that pullout.

See this image for the bed for the 5th person

Oh wow......yup, I retract my statement. I was thinking of the 2-person pull out sofas, and thought they had those with the pull-down above it.

Sorry!

Can I ask how the kid gets into the bunk? It appears to be very high off the ground, no ladders are visible. Do you toss your kid in like a sack of potatoes?

My family actually had a stateroom with the Murphy bed last year, so I knew that it was available. But the DCL website doesn't seem to have a picture of that category, so that may be misleading. It was great to have the Murphy bed, no question.

Here is the info for making reservations at Small World Nursery, from the DCL site:

Reservations
It's a Small World Nursery is available at an additional charge and must be reserved in advance. Reservations for It's a Small World Nursery can be made online up to:

  • 120 days in advance for Concierge and Platinum Castaway Club Guests
  • 105 days in advance for Gold Castaway Club Guests
  • 90 days in advance for Silver Castaway Club Guests
  • 75 days in advance for all other Guests
You can also make a reservation during the open house on Embarkation Day on a first-come, first-served basis. Because space is extremely limited, be sure to book your child's nursery stay early.

Prices for It's A Small World Nursery
It's A Small World Nursery is available at an additional charge.

  • $9.00 per hour for first child
  • $8.00 per hour for second child in the same family
Cancellations may be made without penalty up to 4 hours in advance of reservation.

What to Bring to It's a Small World Nursery
Families should bring baby food, formula, milk and bottles; Disney's trained counselors will be more than happy to feed your child. Additionally, parents should include diapers or pull-ups, diaper wipes, extra clothing and a baby blanket or pacifier, if applicable, when dropping off their child.

Children with Special Needs
Children with special needs are welcome at It's A Small World Nursery. While we cannot offer one on one care for your child, families are encouraged to speak with our Special Services team pre-arrival to discuss any questions or clarify participation guidelines.

While we haven't been on the Dream, we can attest to personally having 5 in the pre-furb Magic and on the Fantasy and the beds are exactly as DisneyJoe says. Murphy, 2 bunks, and one main bed. 2 in main, one each in each bunk and one in murphy = 5.

EDIT: Lower bunk is same height as regular bed, so easy access from floor. Upper has a ladder that stows in bed when room attendant raises it, and he/she installs it each night to climb in/out.

You can...heck, I tossed my kid up there quite a few times on the trip...but there is a ladder.

Also, unless you request it be left down, your room steward will most likely stow the bed daily during morning service (hats right, you room will be serviced twice daily...morning and late afternoon). This can be an issue (if you need it for nap time, etc...) as there is a special Chuck lock on the bed, so you can't take it down yourself.

If you leave them a note though, they'll leave it down and just make it up instead of stowing it.
