A Couple of Questions

My family is currently planning a trip to Walt Disney World for this summer. We're going to celebrate my brother's birthday (which was yesterday), but we probably won't get any birthday perks five months from now. XD So, we're trying to decide if we should go in mid-July for our mother's birthday or mid-August for our father's birthday.

I've read that around mid-August (after August 15-ish) Disney starts offering free dining plans. Can anyone confirm this or provide any additional information?

Does anyone know if the three nights free promotion will be extended yet again? We're trying to get the best deal and hoping it will be available in mid-late August for my father's birthday (since at the moment it looks like it would end right before we get there).

Can the birthday gift card only be used on the actual birthday or can it be used throughout the trip?

Three nights free, plus a free dining plan, plus a free ticket (or gift card) would be one heck of a bargain.

Thanks!

Your brother cam wear a birthday button whenever you go. If you're celebrating his birthday then so is Disney. He'll get a lot of "Happy Birthday" wishes from CMs and guests and might get a treat or two here and there.

Free dining isn't announced until sometime in April usually. Starting time has run any time from mid August through into the first full week of September. To get the best deal, book through a good Disney-knowledgeable Travel Agent [I use Kingdom Konsultants]. They'll check for the best options for you now and will watch for any discounts or offers that come available [like free dining] and add it to your booking "automagically" if there are no new decisions required or they'll contact you to find out if you want to do whatever is required to make the change and get the deal.

I think the birthday deal is a one-day, single-park admission unless you already have a valid admission for that day. Then you can get the gift card... I think the card has to be used during the trip, not just on the day, but someone will jump in if I'm wrong on that...

Right now no one knows what deals Disney will offer or when they will offer them. Traditionally we have seen free dining offered for September and the 4/3 deal has been extended once already so it is quite conceivable that it will be extended again. However, I can say with nearly 100% confidence say that you will not see a 4/3 deal with free dining. At best you will be able to choose between the two. In regards to the free birthday ticket..... per the official site you must be at the parks on your birthday to get either the ticket or gift card.

Q: I can't come on my birthday. Can I get free admission to a theme park on another day?

A: Unfortunately, no. The free admission to a Theme Park on your birthday offer is only valid for free admission on your birthday in 2009.

Q: When can I pickup my birthday ticket?

A: Guests can pick up their free birthday ticket for admission to a theme park on their actual date of birth. Please use other purchased ticket media to enter the Parks if you plan to begin your vacation prior to your birthday.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to go through all of the options for your upcoming trip. I would be more than happy to help you sort it all out.

Oh, I know I have to be there on the actual day. I meant like... say we're at Magic Kingdom on one of my parents' birthdays... We would be receiving a gift card. Would we have to use the entire value of the gift card that day, or can we spend it throughout our trip (which will probably be like 10 nights)

Thanks!

No. You do not have to use it on the same day.
