A boating question

As I've mentioned in the past, my wife and I enjoy boating in Disney. Looking on Disney's site it appears all boating options on Bay Lake are now through 'Sammy Duvall's - Personal watercraft rentals'. There's just one price quoted that I can see which is $135 per boat

Last October I'm sure we hired an 8 seat craft from the Grand Floridian for about $75, have Disney given the rights to a third party who've nearly doubled the price?

Thanks in advance

You can still get the pontoon boats that seat 10 for $45+tax per 30 minutes. Available at Grand Flo, Poly and Contemp.

Hmmmmm... never thought about renting a boat for an hour or so and just cruising around. That might be a nice relaxing activity for our 'rest day'!

We rented a boat on Lake Mohave upstream of Davis Damn at Bullhead City AZ / Laughlin NV and just had a blast! But had a funny little incident... I'm used to boating on Lake Erie here in Ohio. We were flying across the lake and the waters of the Colorado River are crystal clear. I moved us over closer to shore to check some stuff out and saw the bottom coming up fast! So I whipped the wheel over (causing many a spilled drink and much swearing) and cut the throttle before realizing we were still easily in 20+ feet of water. Ya see... if you see the bottom on Lake Erie, it's already too late - you have probably lost your prop and possibly your outdrive lol! More than a little embarrassed at that little nautical experience. Ah well... at least we didn't puke a prop... :D

Give it a try my friend, it's very pleasant. We don't boat elsewhere so I'm not an experienced boater so perhaps Disney isn't that fun for those experienced on larger bodies of water? However we find it extremely relaxing and as Mrs Merg has no desire whatsoever to pilot the craft, I get to feel all macho for an hour or so in command of my vessel (it's perhaps the only thing in our marriage I'm in charge of apart from the barbecue).

I concur...and with personal experience you can see all of bay lake and seven seas in the half hour.

Here's your itinerary if you picked up a pontoon at the contemporary resort.

Go immediately towards grand Floridian and pass over the water bridge and take in the sites of the mk being on the right. Pass in front of GF.

Then head over to Polynesian and pass it front of the resort.

Begin to head back towards the water bridge (be sure to yield to the Ferryboat, as the larger boat has the right of way)

After you pass the water bridge, veir towards the right and pass in front of Wilderness Lodge, following the shore line on your right.

As you are heading now towards Fort Wilderness, reflect on the now abandoned water park, River Country, on your right.

After you pass in front of Fort Wilderness, head pack towards Contemporary for a safe docking at the port.

All in 1/2 hour...
