A Bad Experience

I have always held Disney at a very high standard. I believe that their customer service is (and should be) spectacular. However, I recently had an experience with Disney that really has me real upset.

A dear friend of our family just arrived at the Contemporary Resort. She is a big Disney fan, so to make her trip extra special, my mother wanted to call the contemporary to order a treat (like cookies) to be left in her room upon arrival. When she first walked in to her room, she would have seen our little treat.

So, my mother called the contemporary resort and asked the people at the front desk how she would go about doing this. The front desk transferred her to guest relations. Then guest relations transfered her to room service. Room service (who had no idea what to do) then transferred her (finally) to the bakery. A man at the bakery said to give him my mothers name and phone number so that he could call her back. My mother did this.

Two days later, she had still not heard back. Obviously frusturated at this point, she called back the contempoary one last time and was transferred once again to guest services. Guest Services suggested that my mother send in her own cookies that they would place in our friend's room. This was not a viable solution considering that our friend was arriving at the end of the week. Plus, it was a little bit insulting! Why would disney not want to make profit off of our purchase?

finally, my mother called the florist who manged (we think) to set us up with something.

I had no idea that such a simple gesture would be so difficult!:(

Please, no one take this personally (I'm not trying to offend). I love Disney so much and it frusturates me when they act incompentent. To me they should seem perfect!

sorry for venting!

That's terrible. And Samantha Brown on the travel channel made it look so simple to get that chocolate camera put in her room at the GF. I hope your friend got her treat.:fork: :(

We have things sent to friends all the time. we ALWAYS use the WDW florist service. We have never had a problem getting it there on time & everyone has always been very pleased with what they have received. IMHO its the only way to go.

I have also used the Florist Service to have roses awaiting our arrival on an anniversary trip, and it went perfectly. If I remember correctly, they have other things besides flowers available. I think.

They have a lot of stuff. The last two times we sent an insulated bag with fruit, candy, cookies, crackers & cheese, autograph book & pen. They will customize just about anything. They have always been very helpful with suggestions & getting things there on time. :sohappy:

While i have always thought Disney has given very good guest service every once in a while you hit a snag. More than likely it was a communication mixup which can happen pretty easy considering the limited amount of backstage access at the resorts. As for the Guest Services person who told you to send in your own cookies all i can say is you must of caught the CM at a low magic level:cry:

I had no idea (until now) that the florist plays such a large part in such things. I thought each hotel would have their own kitchen/bakery that could handle it.

Oh, well...live and learn!:)

how do you contact the florist and how far in advance should you do this? Also do they offer a variety of price ranges and age appropriate items...don't really think the kids would love a lovely rose arrangement..although the parents would!

They have a wide variety of offers & price ranges. You can also have something made to order...instead of ordering one of the pre made packages.
We usually call a couple od days before, but you can call early in the morning & they will do their best to have it there by the afternoon.

The styles have changed, but this one is closest to the one we have been sending:

Does the Disney Florist actually create fresh baked goods instead of packaged generic goods?
