Here's the announcement:

Walt Disney World® Golf always strives to provide you with world-class golf facilities to maximize the value of your experience with us, along with that extra touch of Disney Magic.

On the heels of the recent significant updates at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course, this year notable upgrades are planned at Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course to enhance and improve course playability and conditioning for your future enjoyment.

The current plans, which are anticipated to run from late Spring into the early Fall time frame, are expected to include:
  • The greens will be fully renovated with newly reimagined contouring and elevations
  • Green-side bunker and chipping area updates to improve playability
  • Upgraded irrigation systems around the greens to improve and better maintain their conditions and that of the surrounding chipping areas
  • New drainage systems for many bunkers to reduce water retention and improve playing conditions after rains
  • Enhancements to several teeing grounds
As the classic country-club style golf course, which winds through and around three of the Walt Disney World® Resort hotel locations, Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course provides amazing views of resort villas, palmettos, forests and sparkling lakes. It has always been unique in its character, providing something of a more intimate golf experience.

We are committed to your enjoyment of our golf facilities and look forward to the completion of these enhancements later this year!

We look forward to welcoming you to "The Happiest Place on Turf!"

I hope that they don't cut down a lot of trees. I played Magnolia last year and the new holes were rather "blah". I was disappointed in the overall condition of that course. I much preferred Palm. Might try to get LBV in before it closes, if possible. I saw "summer" but no official date.

Anyone else long since sick of their overuse of “The Most Magical blah blah blah”?

I would like to play a round at one of these courses. See how they stack up to Ko Olina. 😉
DH golfed at Kona Country Club about a month ago and said he doubts anything will ever beat it, with the exception of somewhere like Pebble Beach.

I think a lot of that was due to the world drive construction unfortunately

Totally agree. It was messy and not the serene feel that you get on a course (in between the moments when the golf ball chooses its own path and trajectory). LBV is closed on 5/4/2026 which would have been my first day of vacation and when I was going to play. I have tried to not take it personally.

If Shades of Green is ever divested by the DoD (which it very well could be), I wouldn't hate to see it become the Golf Resort or something similar again...

Disney gonna have to go all 4th amendment to kick the vets out
DoD has, from what I've been told, thinking of selling the place off for years. High profile R&R spot that's legendary, but it's not cheap to operate or maintain... And there's been friction with Disney since the day they acquired it. The whole thing was... frankly (even as someone who's had family who've worked with the military for years) a very odd choice from Disney in the first place. Should have kept it for themselves.

Im sure at some point a city high rise monstrosity will replace it, whether from Disney or an outside corp. This is all any of them know how to do anymore.

Mr. Rosen wanted it, years before he died (was supposed to be effectively torn down and the spot built into something resembling what eventually became Shingle Creek)... That was the last time something concrete of a vaguely appropriate style was proposed, far as I know.
