Michael Eisner interview

I'm surprised nobody has posted this yet. This was an interview with Michael Eisner from a day ago.
The 2 biggest things he said were

"I’m not wild of the fact that it’s so expensive now to go to Disneyland or Disney World,” Eisner told Bensinger. “I’m not wild of the fact that it’s harder to have everybody as a VIP at the parks, because they are selling things"

I haven't watched it yet, but it is easier to say things when you don't have a board breathing down your neck about stock valuations. I don't disbelieve him, but remember Iger paid similar lip service to rising prices right before he came back.

Iger and D'amaro have both said things like "We need to make sure the middle class visitor doesn't get squeezed out" but to them, that translates to more complexity like tiered pricing and discount days. That's why Eisner is beating the "Everyone is a VIP" drum.

2005 is a lot different than today but you have to wonder how many more years would Eisner last if he didn't get kicked out.
He was past his shelf date…so he needed to go or at a minimum replenish the execs with younger talent to bring up to the top…

The good news is…Disney learned absolutely nothing and repeated the same oversight mistakes in even bigger fashion since 👍🏻👍🏻

It’s almost like he might have taken the time to read about why the parks were successful when he was there? 🤔

It's a great interview. I wonder if he's aware of what has happened to the Morocco pavilion's tile.

He had a lot of tells during the segment outside TWDC HQ (the building he built and took pride in building) that I found really interesting.
There was shade and darts thrown all over the place in that interview…as there was in his statement last week.

All directed at one guy.
I could hold a seminar on it here…but I don’t think it would catch/stick to the Igerians.

Because he’s sees the field and is trying to “establish a narrative” that it didn’t start with him. He bought/“owned” Iger…so now he’s pivoting to make it clear nothing since was part of his design
From what I've watched so far, I get the impression Eisner would rather pull out his toenails with a pair of pliers than talk positively about the mess Iger's made of the company. "He's a wonderful CEO..." but then... "Pricing sucks"; Treating people like VIP's comment; Underhanded comment about the price of acquisitions; "When you sell the house, you don't go back to visit". Plus his recent comment around, "Josh, don't forget the creative roots of the company".
