News Red Flag Warning Issued for Walt Disney World Due to Fire Danger - Feb 6 2026

This reminds me of our first family trip to WDW in July of ‘01. Central Florida had been having large wildfires during the previous months. Although there was no visible smoke (IIRC, the fires had mostly been contained or put out, by the time of our trip), everywhere we went on Disney property smelled like smoke. It wasn’t really annoying, it was just there.
We have the occasional small grass/brush fire here in Central Texas and, to this day, that smell always brings memories of that first family trip to WDW flooding back.
Hopefully nothing like that happens again, anytime soon.

FL is in the middle of a huge drought right now if you can believe it.
I definitely believe it, all I need to do is notice how often I need to add water to my pool. It's also unusually cold for an unusually extended amount of time.

The pattern in Florida tends to be either too much rain or too little rain. Very seldom does it seem to be just enough rain.
