everybody say it together......."private equity"

Indeed! The private equity firms that have now successfully extracted the value from the asset and are moving on. Seems familiar... oh, wait. Same thing happened to Sprinkles!

Francesca's also has the disadvantage of having gone bankrupt previously, which immediately handicaps it regardless of who takes over.

I remember my wife once bought a dress from a Francescas(not DS location), the next day she decided she didn't want it but had lost her receipt. They essentially told her to bad. Wouldn't refund, exchange or anything. Said she was even dealing with the girl that sold her the dress and it was obviously their dress as they had unique offering and had a ton of them on the rack. Never did any business with them again.

Can’t say this bothers me- this is a pretty bog standard store at many malls. The Springs should keep aiming for stores that are not standard mall shops. Look for popular online retailers that have limited physical locations and views those locations as ‘halo’ brand ambassadors.

I feel this would be more of an outrage if your wife hadn't lost her receipt...

Right. I get that it's frustrating, but if the retailer requires a receipt for returns and you lose the receipt, that's not really on the retailer?
There are a lot of "return" scams out there that prey on retailers that allow receipt-less returns. I think it's understandable to require a receipt, especially if the transaction happened "the next day" (!).

100%. People literally grab and steal entire handfuls of merchandise off racks to return for store credit gift cards that they then turn around and sell. They just run right out the door with them. People also "try things on" and hide the clothing under their own to do the same thing. These were huge shrink issues when I worked retail twenty years ago, and I don't imagine it has gotten better in the modern age.
