Missed opportunity? Why Disney hasn’t rethemed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster to Taylor Swift

I can’t help but think the Muppets was a bad idea. I assume they only chose the Muppets because they were afraid of the backlash they were going to receive when they announced that Muppet Vision was going to be closed. I just don’t think the Muppets; specifically Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, are going to work, at least not in this ride system.

So why not Taylor Swift instead? I’ve been a Disney World fan long enough to remember there were rumors about replacing Aerosmith with Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers. But Taylor Swift makes the most sense.

This is coming from a huge Muppets fan and someone who is lukewarm on Taylor Swift and by no means a Swiftie. I just think adding Taylor Swift would make more park fans happy.

Disney if you want to make parks fans happy again after closing Muppet Vision. Make that Movie Ride with the Muppets that was canceled back in MGM days.

As questioned in another thread. Wouldn't it create some sort of conflict of interest having Taylor as a headliner to a Disney attraction while her (soon to be) husband is an owner of Six Flags?

Honest question. I'm actually curious how that works, or if it's a non-issue.

Given Disney refused to update the Aerosmith theme even after the band had become irrelevant for years... I'm kind of glad they don't cut some deal with another real music act. Assume they did a deal with Swift... I can see it now 50 years from now when she's being pushed in a wheelchair it would still be blaring Shake it Up and people would just wonder who the hell Taylor Swift was.

Funny how an irrelevant band just scored a #1 album in the UK just 3 weeks ago. 🤔

Any way… Taylor Swift would be a huge mistake.

Music trends move quickly and are fickle. Even the most iconic bands from my parents days, like The Beatles, would have been a head scratcher for me going to the parks as a kid.

Although honestly, my guess is that the real reason for Disney is IP. I still don’t completely understand the rationale behind the IP mandate, but it seems to be pretty uniform in new attractions.

100% no for me, I have no problem with her or her music but the Muppets are a much better, more long term, fit. Throwing in a new artist would just mean another change needed in another decade.
Jim Henson was working to sell the Muppets to Disney in 1990 because, in part, he thought Disney would secure their legacy, so that they would not become passe.
