Trip Report 12 Days of Christmas!

Lords will be a leaping and maids will be milking. Well, perhaps not. But we are heading to Disney for 12 days!

When? Tomorrow! (Dec 17th)

Where? The original plan was 10 days at Boardwalk Villas. We have a 1 br villa with a Boardwalk view. We added 2 additional days to the front end of the trip at Wilderness Lodge so we now have 12 days total!

Who? In a shocking turn of events, C (my wife) has managed to stay healthy amd we have no kittens or pregnant momma cats to care for, so finally we will be taking a trip together!

We will also be joined by Baileys family! Bailey is the black Labrador service K9 I trained and have had 2 trips at WDW with.

Baileys family will be down for 8 days with us. They arrive a few days after us. It will be a party of 7 total with their children included.

But wait, theres more...Akira (one of our Malinios) will be with us as well.

We've already got several dining reservations planned and a few Holliday festivities that ill share later.

Im off to a short day at work and ill update later. Get your pipers piping and your Geese a-laying!

Apologies for the delay, it was a pretty busy day packing and getting everything else in order.

We hit the road yesterday morning. Quick recap of the trip down:

Mandatory Bucees stop. It was empty but it was also very early in the morning

I learned that my wife is a closet Bucees cult member. She wanted a blanket. In fairness, it is a pretty cool blanket thays Christmas themed.

The Florida welcome center is always a good spot to stop for bathroom breaks for humans and dogs

Saw this at tje gas station and it made me laugh. Mainly cause it applies to the youngling I work with lol

We like this "water" view since its far enough away from the pool to not hear all the noise

Next, in a slight breach of etiquette, C bypassed her room cleaning ritual and demanded we go to Geyser Point! I was flumoxeed as she is a clean freak and has always insisted on scrubbing the room down. Amd shes been doing this since pre covid. She was cleaning before it was cool.

I didnt argue with her amd we headed down to the bar!

She had one thing on her mind. Sje was channeling @Tuvalu and ordered the turkey sandwich

Shes been craving this sandwhich for months

I went with the bison meatballs

There was grits under the meatballs. It was very good.

The whiskey sour at Geyser Point has become a favorite of mine. C ordered a pilsner

We got a happy camper here!

We also ordered the mac and cheese bites.

With stuffed bellies we headed back to the room to clean amd freshen up

Apologies for such a rapid switch from Pre Trip Report to actual Trip Report. The last few days have been bonkers. I wanted to add a little context before we headed down here but wasnt able to. So ill take the time now (as I sit at Geyser Point) to do so.

Celebrating Christmas has not been easy or much fun the last few years for my wife since her mom passed away. Christmas was THE Holliday they celebrated together. From shopping, presents, food and family, it was such a big event every year for them.

It just hasnt been the same for C these last few years regardless of what we have switched up. Everything reminded her of the years past with her mom. We needed something different. Something that wouldn't conjure up memories of all the good times of the past.

So we decided that a Christmas at Disney, and actually staying through Christmas day would be enough to change things up a bit. Granted, she spent many, many, trips down here with her mom, but never for Christmas specifically.

So here we are. And so far, so good! And i dont expect this to be easy but we will make the best of it and hopefully create new memories and new traditions for years to come. We will miss our family back home (@luvinthemajik ) but they have been supportive in understanding our efforts for this trip and that is truly a blessing for us.

All that said, I wont be doing much "live" reporting this trip but will update when I can.

Akira is doing well amd we are looking forward to Bailey and family joining us tomorrw!

Here's a current pic of Akira chilling as I get food/drinks at Geyser Point
