The grandparents are giving the grandkids (and parents) a day at HS. It will be between Christmas and New Year’s and we will be staying at an Airbnb, so no early entry. Our family is okay with just getting in a few highlights, but the cousins haven’t been for many years and I’d love to help make it a successful day for everyone. Think there’s a chance we’ll be able to get an ILL for Rise at the three day mark? I don’t think LLMP will be worth it since we can’t book our choices early. Any strategies that will help our group?

I'd ropedrop Rise. If you come in where the LL folks come in, you have missed significant backstory on your mission. With rope drop, you should be able to get on within the hour. Move then to Smugglers Run.
Frankly, Toy Story land is overrated. I would just move generally toward Tower of Terror, picking up anything that doesn't look like too terrible a line. (Which is probably a relative term on this week.)
Don't discount some of the lesser attractions. For instance, The Frozen Sing-a-long is Hilarious!
Quite frankly,Mickey and Minnie's Railroad is also overrated. Aim for the shows, such as Indy, Beauty and the Beast and most assuredly Fantasmic.
Just remember, you are at Walt Disney World. If all you got to do was walk around, soak up the atmosphere and eat, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Good Luck
