I've never purchased travel insurance through the same company that is providing the vacation (ie cruise line, disney). I've always gone with third parties as those policies tend to favor the traveler, not the vacation provider.
But, to be honest, I've never really looked in depth at the disney plan vs third parties. Has anyone done a deep dive to compare the plans? Do the disney plans cover the traveler as well as third parties? Yeah, I am crowd-sourcing to save me some time...

I've never purchased for WDW trips because their cancellation/rebooking policies are pretty lenient. I have purchased the insurance offered through DCL for a cruise. There are pluses and minuses -- one big plus is that it includes a CFAR provision (DCL credit) that might not be available (or much more costly) through a third party. However I'm not sure the medical coverage is as good as one can get from a third party.
