Royal Portrait studio has been fully converted for Fairy Godmother's arrival (and honestly looks great, despite the new paywall). She has been seen in the park in preparation - my fiancée and I saw her yesterday on Main Street! I would imagine the experience will certainly be available come November.

The issue is that there are no reservations available over the next month. Usually there are reservations within the upcoming week and there's nothing. Is there anything going on with this changeover that would otherwise restrict reservations (less chairs for the makeover's, etc).

I don't think they are closed. But I think they want people booking under the "new" pricing structure. You should keep close watch. I bet they dump a bunch of them out all at once.

We have a reservation for November 22nd so it is probably fully booked. It has been much harder to book lately.

Disney has just pushed out another update with sample packages and it makes more sense now (its not clear if these are the only packages though):

Ok that makes more sense. So the cheapest package is up from $100 to $120. Thankfully this will be our last visit before my kids age out I think it was $70 the first time we did it in 2016.

This just looks like a price increase. I'm not sure there's a substantial change here otherwise.

To my previous point, for a stretch there was generally availability 5 days out from the current day. Now there isn't, so something has changed.
