Booked Dolphin via Disney, should I get a Marriott confirmation number?

I booked Dolphin via Disney (WDTC International UK) and I've got the usual Disney invoice with the Disney confirmation number.

I downloaded the Marriott Bonvoy app thinking it would be useful for things like online check-in, requresting room preferences etc or whatever else it provides, but it needs a Marriott confirmation number to add the reservation. Disney didn't know what this was and advised me to contact Dolphin directly. (Side note, I've had a problem trying to contact Dolphin directly, aside from an international phone call, the web forms don't work and I don't get any reply from the reservations email address).

Am I missing anything by not using the Marriott app? If the app would be useful for anything, is contacting Dolphin directly (front desk?) the only way to get the required Marriott confirmation number if I give them my name and date of arrival, or do stays booked via Disney not get one?

As far as using the Bonvoy App itself, I don't really think you would be missing out on much. Swan and Dolphin actually has its own app which i always found helpful when staying there. It gives you a ton of info on the property and lets you book dinner reservations and what not.

What I am not sure about (I have always book Swan and Dolphin through Marriot and then linked to My Disney Experience) is without the Marriot confirmation number, would you be getting the proper Marriot/Bonvoy points and credits for nights stayed to your Bonvoy status. Not exactly the question you were asking i know but if your someone who cares about the points/bonvoy status it might be something to look into.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not concerned about the points thing, I'm not that big a user of Marriott hotels! I didn't know Swan & Dolphin had their own app actually, I'll investigate that one too.

I actually opened up the app again after responding to your threat, and i would highly recommend it for you. It has tons of useful information, dining, kids clubs, maps of the hotel, the walking paths to parks, information on linking your reservation to My Disney Experience. Especially if you have never stayed at this property before i think you will find it very helpful.

LOL lack of spell checking gets me again!! Hope you have a great time on the trip. Swan and Dolphin has become a toss up between it and Contemporary as my favorite place to stay.
