Thanksgiving Dinner at Wilderness Lodge: Artist Point vs. Whispering Canyon vs. other?

We are staying at WL for the first time, getting in on Thanksgiving Day (šŸ™ƒšŸ˜¬).

Curious what folks have done at that resort or in DW in general for Thanksgiving dinner. We know that Whispering Canyon seems to be one of the top go-to sit downs for that particular night in all of WDW but since we have not done Artist Point yet, curious if they even offer a Thanksgiving Dinner...?

Any other suggestions for Thanksgiving in general? We will not be in MK that day (or any park), so no Liberty Tree Tavern.
Open to any great Thanksgiving meal for our family in Disney Springs or a resort, hoping the either WL option is solid.

Thanks in advance! ā¤ļøšŸ™

Are you just looking for a nice meal or are you looking for the traditional eat-yourself-into-a-food-coma Thanksgiving experience?
My first inclination was to go the coma route, but is there any chance for both?

Seems Artist Point has better food quality, was hoping they have Thanksgiving?

If you want Ketchup, you have to yell for it, then they bring you like 20 bottles. I cant remember if you have to go get it or the family that has it, brings it to you. Some people love it. It's just not for me.

Another popular place to eat over the years on Thanksgiving is at Liberty Tree Tavern in MK.

I'm not sure about the traditional meal at AP. May be worth a phone call to verify.

People who have dined there recently have mentioned that they have calmed down the antics a lot and it isn't as boisterous as it once was. Last time we dined there 2 years ago they were joking around but not like before.
The OP said they are not going to MK so LTT is not in the discussion.
Prior to Thanksgiving Disney and Dis fan sites will posts where Thanksgiving type dinners will be served on property.

Whispering Canyon has historically done a Thanksgiving skillet - last year it included oak-smoked turkey, slow-smoked pulled pork, Western-style sausages, maple-chipotle pork ribs, cornbread stuffing, sautƩed green beans, giblet gravy, cranberry relish, buttered corn and smashed Yukon potatoes. There are a lot of antics in general so the dining room is somewhat loud but seems like servers are pretty good about reading the table (or of course you could just tell them you aren't interested in the games). I don't think I've seen anything about a special meal at Artist Point but that doesn't mean there isn't/won't be one.

Steakhouse 71 over at the Contemporary (believe there's a boat from WL) also serves a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (or at least has in the past).

A multitude of options over at Disney Springs - Raglan Road, Summer House, Paddle Fish, Terralina, City Works, Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex, and Earl of Sandwich has the sandwich. Again, based on last year ... don't think we've heard about this year yet.

Ate there in April. The ketchup is still a thing. Missed the part about not going to MK.

@wonkabars7 I am currently staying on the 7th floor of Wilderness Lodge and just asked a concierge manager about Thanksgiving day menus at Whispering Canyon and Artist Point. Whispering Canyon will offer turkey and other traditional fare. Storybook Dining (character meal) at Artist Point does not have a special menu for Thanksgiving and likely won’t again this year.

Having sat in the club lounge (which overlooks the lobby) during breakfast, lunch and dinner several days this week, I can assure you that the antics in Whispering Canyon are as raucous (and loud) as ever, with cries for ā€œKetchupā€ and other shenanigans. Last night a group of men sang, ā€œI’m a little teapot!ā€ I found it hilarious and have always had fun dining there. You don’t have to play along with the antics (the servers are very good at ā€œreading the tableā€ so to speak) but the atmosphere will be far from quiet.

I highly recommend booking an ADR at 60 days out if you want to dine there. It will be a popular place on Thanksgiving and unlikely will have walk-up availability, even for WL guests.

You can opt out of the antics should you desire, just say something when checking in and again to your server. No explanation is needed. You'll probably be seated in an out of the way area

This is all incredibly helpful. Thank you for checking with the manager in this regard, super nice of you.

What do you recommend in terms of room requests? Curious what side and level, etc...not to get too off topic, but wanted to ask since you are there now.

Non-DVC rooms are located on the left side of the Lodge and are either standard resort view (rooftops, parking areas, trees) water view (courtyard waterfall and pool - higher floor rooms may also have a Bay Lake view), or fireworks view (higher floor rooms with partial MK/Contemporary views). Whatever room category you booked will be the one you are assigned. First floor rooms are very convenient to Roaring Fork, the boat dock and pool and there is no waiting for an elevator. 6th floor rooms have enclosed balconies, so if you want to see the view you’ll need to stand on the balcony. Not a whole lot of difference in rooms on 2nd-5th floors.

DVC rooms are on the right side of the Lodge and have views of the courtyard pool on the north and quiet pool on the south. If by any chance you are staying in a DVC studio room, shoot me a PM and I’ll give you a room number to request. šŸ˜‰

I think its strange that AP isn't doing anything for Thanksgiving...maybe we just go up to the Contemporary or some other resort but was hoping to take in that time of the year at WL as much as possible.
