Character Palooza

Hi All,

I'm heading down soon for a leisurely day at Epcot. I've never been around for a Character Palooza and am hoping I might get lucky and get to experience one. I know they are random but from what I have seen online, when they happen, they generally occur late morning to early afternoon near the American Adventure or International Gateway.

What I'm curious about is if there is a pattern to roughly how often they occur. Is it once a month, once a week, daily, twice a year, etc. I would be willing to wait around a bit to see what happens, but don't want to waste my time if the chances are slim. Also, is there any pattern to what days of the week they happen? I will probably be there on a Monday.

Appreciate any insight you might have!

They were a regular thing, so far as I know they still are. I used to be able to catch them each time I went in, every other week or so. My interest dropped recently (the characters tend to be the same) so I don't try and go all the time but still will normally see it happen if I'm in the area around the correct time. I haven't noticed any specific days for it.

My advice is to have lunch at Regal Eagle, take your time, and sit near the window. That's my usual strategy. It lets you relax and not waste much time while you can just glance out to see if anyone is there. If none of the food sounds good, consider getting to go from one of the other quick services and just ordered a drink or dessert from RE; they won't stop you.

There's a pretty wide range of times it could happen, around 11:30 - 2:00 is normally the window I look for and have success with.

A couple extra tips:

- American Adventure is where I've consistently seen it, but it can also happen at the World Showplace corridor. If there's currently an event happening at Showplace, keep an eye out in front of Imagination; they'll move there if they planned to use Showplace.

- Characters won't show up if it's raining or if there's lightning in the area

Update: I was in Epcot on Monday and at 1pm I was having a snack near the American Adventure. After about 10 minutes, the gates opened slightly and Chip & Dale and one of the Mary Poppins penguins came out along with about 10-12 handlers. It was fewer characters than I was hoping for, but Mr. Penguin was high on my list so I have no complaints. Chip & Dale got most of the attention and the attendant had to cut off the line after about 15 minutes. Poor Mr. Penguin had far fewer guests and most of the time he was just interacting with his handler. All in all I consider my first palooza a success!

Wonder if guests just dont know who Penguin is. Or remember what movie they were from. You don't hear many people wanting to know where Penguin is appearing in the parks.
