I am a Dog Owner, please allow me that your pet should remain home during your vacation to WDW. Our Daughter who also has dogs would be watching ours during our vacation leave, Next part is we have a really good Best Friends that was reliable and dependable where My dog stayed while on vacation. My Dog was part of a pl;ay group there two times a week when not on vacation. So during her vacation stay, she was part of the play group every day, was given a smokey treat before bed and they had our feeding instructions and any other care information needed. My wife and I could log on our lap top and view our dog in the play group each day. Finally, when we were to pick her up when we were back from vacation, she was fully groomed the day we were picking her up to bring her back home.

Traveling with our dog is great and fun, but there are somethings like WDW or Uni or a major resort with lots to do that really should have the dogs left at home. Dogs do so much better in their own home or a family member that they really know or in our case a Best Friends that she goes and is part of the play group twice a week.

I love my dog and want the best for her, but some vacations really are not Dog inclusion, So I take her to WDW and leave her in a crate in the room for 7 hours and be back walk her and put her back in the crate because it is dinner time for us. The dog will be spending more time in her crate vs being at a family members house or best friends where she will be free to walk and play with very minimal time in here crate at all.

Unless your Dog is truly a service dog that serves a special need, WDW really should be for just adults and the kids.

There have been times, when going for 1-2 nights, we did not get charged the pet fee, or were charged less of a pet fee.

Leaving your dog alone in the room even for a short while is a risk. They may spot-check all rooms for security while you are out. If they do that and your dog is “a runner,” they could surprise the CM opening the door and run right past them.

That also goes to not declaring your pet upon arrival. Big risk.

I believe we stayed at all of the pet friendly hotels with our dog, and she very much preferred The Cabins which, as a result, became our default place to stay. It feels more like being in a house - no hallways to walk through, no noises from a room next door, above, or below. Privacy, quick access to outdoors, plenty of green space to walk. If we did leave her for 45 minutes to grab a bite, she was perfectly comfortable, as opposed to a standard hotel room where they can feel confined.

If it was a park day, we brought her to Best Friends Pet Care for Day Care in an indoor-outdoor combo room.
