Didn't see it specifically mentioned but does this mean even more of the dreadful INCREDIBLES IP?
I don’t think the garden wing rooms got the Incredibles makeover…… I guess this could relate to that. But for some reason I thought the Contemporary was getting exterior work done. Not sure where I picked that up from though. 🙅‍♀️

I would just like classy. We see how they subtly incorporate IP into other deluxe resorts. There’s nothing subtle about ours. We can’t even have souvenirs with sophisticated designs. What’s left at BVG? One robe with The Contemporary Resort logo?
I guess I’ll just add it to the “I miss it when Disney was Disney” complaint - when there was fun, colorful theming in the value resort rooms (and even moderate resorts) and classy Disney elements expected at deluxe that added to the Disney bubble.

Hopefully the next Contemporary Tower room refurbs take inspiration from the Bay Lake Tower refurb.
As long as they don't take away storage, the new BLT refurb took away what little storage a family of five could have in a 1 bedroom (and no, I don't care if it comes with a washer and dryer - I'm not doing laundry while on vacation.)

In another updated notice, Disney says refurbishments will continue in select areas through late 2027:

September 2024 Through Late 2027

Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay.

Any clues on what refurb work they'd be doing on BLT? Can't imagine its rooms given they've only just done them.

Disney has shared new and updated details on the ongoing refurbishment at the Contemporary Resort, including exterior maintenance at the Main Tower and temporary closures of the Skyway Bridge.

Here's the updated refurbishment notice:

September 2024 through late 2027
Refurbishment work will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium, Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower. The Main Tower will undergo exterior maintenance beginning March 23, 2026, which may impact views from various locations throughout the resort and, at times, require alternate paths of travel. Guests may see or hear construction during daytime hours.

Additional Impacts
  • January 26, 2026 through early May 2026: The Bay Cove Pool, Cove Bar, water play area and whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower will be temporarily closed for maintenance. The Main Pool, water play area and whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.
  • Late March through late May 2026: Exterior elevator landing repairs will take place at Bay Lake Tower.
  • March 30 through May 1, 2026: The Skyway Bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary Main Tower will be closed Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and will reopen daily after 5 p.m. and remain available evenings and weekends. Guests may need to use alternate paths of travel at times and may see or hear construction activity while work is underway.

Come on Disney - it’s time to admit the overtly Incredibles theme was a disaster and fix it. You had rich imagery of mid century architecture and furnishings in that movie, but you chose to go over the top on the specific characters instead like it was an All Star resort! Big miss!

They don't mention the 'atrium' being closed or restricted, which would be necessary for a large revamp to return the Grand Canyon Concourse to it's former glory. I am sadly not optimistic there. All of this feels like mainly maintenance work, vs a refurb with design or theming updates - but I guess we'll see.

Bringing the Grand Canyon back to previous glory would be amazing. Can’t we move that second gift shop somewhere less intrusive than the middle of the floor? The other public spaces on that floor are also weak compared to what they did down in the main lobby.
