Is Cinderella Castle Ever Going Back to White and Blue?

Forgive me if there has been posts about this before, I just can’t help but wonder if they’re ever going to revert Cinderella Castle back to its original color scheme. I’ve been getting the impression lately that they are not- the large pink castle is typically used as the “generic” castle used on the marketing material and merch for WDW and Disneyland. It just gives me the idea that, for cohesive branding purposes, they’re going to leave it like that for a long time (or at least until a next big celebration). What’s everyone else think?

They have changed the color of that castle more often then some people change underwear. Right now, they feel that the color works best with the projections on the castle, which most people love. Eventually, due to turnover, someone will make a decision to change it to another color or back to the gray and blue, but for now, I don't think they are in any hurry to do anything about it or fix something that really ain't broken.

I think there’s a good chance, just because Disney seems to cycle through phases of wanting to increase their market share with boys, and the current color scheme is more traditionally feminine. With the opening of Epic Universe there seems to be a push towards more gender neutral fare (Cars, Villains) vs. upping the princess factor.

Give it ten years until it needs another big refurb and then they'll probably revert it back to the original for the 65th anniversary and make a big deal out of it.

I thought the concept art for the new scheme was really pretty but then they painted it and it was far too dark orange and looked awful, fortunately it has faded over time and looks okay to me now. I think it will naturally continue to fade to a more whiteish colour over time due to the sun anyway.

I was led to believe the current color scheme and paint type/finishes were chosen to optimize for the nightly projections.

I agree, I thought it was kinda Pepto Bismol at first but it looks much more muted now. It’s grown on me more than I thought it would, although I still prefer the grey and blue.

Pink is associated with female dress and fashion in US culture, within the past century at least.

That much is a matter of history. I’m not getting into the way things “should be” (that would be political), just describing the way they are when describing potential Disney marketing strategies.
First off, that’s not pink.

Second, even if it was, I thought we were all about taking away gender stereotypes like that these days.

I’m talking is not ought. Ought is political, is is descriptive. Do I think Disney is going to use various shades of pink to increase marketshare with boys? No, I highly doubt it. Should they? Again, those types of conversations aren’t really allowed here.

At any rate, with the style of EU looming large at the moment, I can see the castle returning to a look that is a bit more in line with medieval castles, which tended to be natural shades.

Because if it's not pink, girls won't know it's for them, right?

At this point Disney is making the majority of their decisions entirely based on the possibility of increasing incoming money. If someone could show that a change of color scheme to the Castle would make guests spend more or increase ticket sales then it would happen. Using available funding for a paint job isn't a priority.
