To me, the new uniforms look really good. That stark white uniform make them stand out and it screamed don't look at me I'm just a lowly janitor. These give a little dignity to the people that keep the place looking good. The only negative comment I have is what I hope is just an accident in available items to show. Those shorts on the guy look like "pedal pushers" of the past and are ugly. I hope they actually have better designed look in mind because I wouldn't wear something like that in public at gunpoint.
It either stood out or screamed don't look at me. It was one or the other, not both.

The uniforms stood out negatively and gave the impression of someone on the lowest end of the totem poll that are unworthy of anyone's positive attention. Yes, you can have both. That said, however, if you look at the my quote it already says "stood out OR screamed don't look".

I think the white helped them blend in everywhere better. This looks more blatantly out of place in most areas. It looks like it belongs in The Seas.
It reminds me of one of the baseball shirts that they're selling at the Walt Disney Company Store to be honest. Not a great look. A custodian friend of mine said "bowling shirt".
There was a story of Walt and his wife. His wife was questioning Walt on building amusement parks his wife telling him saying they are so filthy. Walt told his wife - “ Mine won’t be “. The custodial team do a great and at times thankless job.
I was once told that story was taken into consideration when designing the all-white costume we're now losing (which has been used for years upon years - though I'm not sure how long it dates back to 100%). As the white of the costumes promotes an image of cleanliness which extends into the actual operational aspect.

Introverts would love these uniforms if people perceives it this way.

I don’t regard custodial as the lowest in the totem poll. If it wasn’t for those teams keeping the areas nice and pretty guests would not be coming back.

I did re-read it and I know what I was thinking at the time. Perhaps there is a word or sentence structure that might have worked better but standing out isn't always positive. If it falsely separates people, doing honest work, from those with fancier costumes then it screams pay no attention to me, I'm just here to clean up you and your children's lack of respect for the park. All the rest are worthy of respect and I wear white to show them that I am not anything more than a garbage collector. I'm sorry you cannot understand that! As for me, I am out of this conversation because I don't know how to say it any clearer.

Are you saying the introverts love to be highlighted and being portrayed as inferior? Seems wrong! They are a cast members with possibly the most important job in the park. Keeping it looking spectacular. They get no thanks, no smiling faces and no recognition by the public as part of a team. The indeed are just paid help with no reason to look good and only look like a human utility. Something other than that stark white outfit can go a long ways to being recognized as part of the Disney family and an important part of the show.

Maybe Custodial is wearing white because it’s so hot in FL in the summer one can fry an egg sunny side up on the sidewalk ?

Too many contradictions to correct. 🤣 Words (and their correct meanings) matter.

I always thought "Disney is so perfect is every sense, if only they could update the uniforms". Glad they listen to fedback and act on it 😆

Costumes changed fairly recently for Custodial(relevative) End of 2011. Not sure why the need to change again before others, but it got budgeted. It does help with some of the reasons stated.

I was more bummed when Universal changed their Park Services custodial outfits, at they were all themed to each land they were in at IOA. (and Potter still gets to hold this)

Costumes are being redesigned or reevaluated to use lighter cooler fabrics and addressing cast concerns and comfort. This project was set in motion with the last union contract negotiation.

That sounds great. Having worn them it would help. The images don't evoke cool to me with what the material looks like, but it is hard to tell from an image.

Bowling shirt reminds of the overweight kid ( me ) back in the day who preferred it to a shirt I had to tuck into my pants.

White works well in the Flo sun and this position can spend a good deal of time out there. White clothes worked for perception of cleanliness, in ways similar to how white glove service implies very high standards. It’s outdated thinking though - because it was a way to ‘prove’ hygiene. But WDW isn’t making food workers wear all white, arguably more important in that position. So what else is left beside sunshine. Status/caste? I realize most people aren’t ever thinking of it like that, but does reinforce it to those who choose to think along those lines.

The all white sometimes gave me an unintentional ‘nurse’ vibe at WDW, reminiscent from the days nurses used to wear all white. There too, it hadperceptions of high standards and sterility. Also became outdated and morphed over to the more practical and functional.
