I'll have to see the interior in person. I think it went a little too casual, though I fully understand why. The food looks solid, as expected. Definitely worth checking out for at least a drink and a few bites.

I had a similar thought. While generally I am more laid back, i actually enjoy a formal type settings for a good dinner, where people need to be dressed a bit, no jeans, good shirts, ect. However I acknowledge having to pack those outfits while on a Disney trip and otherwise we were in shorts and tee shirts tended to be a pain, so i can also fully understand why a more casual setting might be better, especially earlier seatings.

So, I actually got to go last night. I just had a couple drinks at the bar, but I was in the restaurant. And, I was meeting friends at Yachtsman's Steakhouse after - so I got to do a direct comparison.

I actually think it works. It's very much just an updated Shula's in feel. It is more casual, but it feels better in person than in photos. The moody lighting works quite well. It is not a high end steakhouse feeling or over the top Vegas quality. It's much more understated - which I think fits the vibe. You don't have to try and impress. It's relaxed. It fits the rest of the resort quite well in that regard.

I do think some will want it to be more than it is. And, it could feel a bit more generic. But, I am good with it. And, the food looked solid - at least from afar. (Plus the staff was super excited, which is awesome.)

I'm a fan overall, as I was a Shula's fan. And, I would go back to Bourbon over Yachtsman, no doubt.

EDIT: I realized a decent comparison. The interior feels on par with a moodier Citricos or Narcoosee's - if they were at non-Disney resorts. (Meaning I always expect some casualness/casual dress and kids at Disney properties. This has a bit of that, but less than those restaurants.) If you like those vibes but want it a bit more adult, you'll enjoy this.

Thanks so much for the honest assessment. Can’t wait to try it myself!

Sounds great. I can't wait to check it out. I saw somewhere that they retained 100% of the Shula's staff who wanted to continue. Love that.

Yes. I still think it carries a bit of that. I would put it in "high resort" category. Ironically, I would feel more comfortable in nice linen shorts and a decent shirt than I would in jeans. (Maybe nice jeans and a jacket.) A suit would feel overkill. I would also feel out of place coming out of the parks in shorts and a t-shirt. Maybe normal shorts and a polo, but that would be the baseline for me.

I was in khakis and a printed short sleeve button down and felt like I was pretty solid with resort guests. Lots of convention folks, as expected, too.

That is so great to hear! Was at Shula’s shortly before they closed and I asked our waiter about that very thing. He said they were going to stay on so long as they wanted to, but it’s awesome to hear that actually happened.
