Parks Predictions Thread

Things seem slow recently so I thought I'd try something new. (If a thread like this exists please direct me to it and I'll delete this one, didn't see one with search.)

This is the... Official Predictions Thread!

Post your predictions and, if they come true within the next decade, dig up your post and award yourself a picture of a giant trophy. I know people make predictions in various places but they tend to be scattered in other threads, so thought they could be consolidated here.

I'm going to start by going big...

Cars doesn't replace RoA. (Wishful thinking - maybe. Perhaps I have not reached the acceptance phase. But I'm also not convinced it's happening. I think something will replace RoA, but still think it might be something more appropriate to Frontierland, not Cars.)

Second... the ride system from Shanghai Pirates (either a shorter version of the actual ride or the same technology integrated into a different IP, like Moana) is announced for the Orlando parks in the next five years.

Third... a new Disney DVC is announced for outside of Orlando at a non-parks site between the next 5 and 10 years.

- Country Bears are never going to sing country again (if that sounds obvious, there were seriously people in the thread hoping they start rotating shows again)
- Muppet Vision is going to be gone and they're not going to move it anywhere

Hang on, right up to D23 last year there were reasonably credible rumours from insiders about a Moana water ride in MK. In the end it didn’t happen, as in it wasn’t announced. But it is presumably still floating around.

This prediction seems a bit “cheeky” (to be diplomatic about it) given it was started by others.

Except for Space Ranger Spin, it would be hard to argue that it won’t be an improvement.

My intent wasn’t to say that a prediction has to be entirely original in this thread. There are always a bunch of rumors floating around, predictions here can just be plucking out the ones you think will actually happen. (That said, Moana using the Shanghai Pirates platform actually isn’t something I’ve heard rumored. I believe they already got a patent for an entirely different ride platform for Moana.)

Here are my guesses:
1) Moana gets announced next year at D23 (not this year's Destination D23); it was only delayed because we had so many new Parks projects in 2024 already.
2) Lightning Lane stays permanently and only has minor changes over time, nothing drastic anymore.
3) The new CEO is announced at this year's end / next year and we won't be fully happy with who it is.
4) Tiana's Bayou Adventure stays as it is for the foreseeable future (maintenance doesn't improve a ton).
5) Figment only improves if we get the show Bob promised us, and the rumoured Inside Out Magic Eye Theatre attraction.
6) Disneyland Paris continues to get capital and will get their rumoured Pandora and Adventureland expansion.
7) The Asian Parks' Marvel expansions are poorly received as they're MCU-based which isn't popular in the East.
8) Disney Cruise Line will have a reputation loss as old ships are phased out and more Wish-class one are built.
9) Villains' Land is not as much as we'd hope it could've been but it's still really cool.
10) Frontierland Cars goes ahead despite our protests, as does Muppet*Vision, which doesn't ever return to the Parks.

My prediction:

Figment 4.0 will come, and will have dreamfinder, but people will still find a way to complain about it, say it sucks, and say imagineering and Disney is dead and all that.

Here's my super long shot prediction: someday (not any time soon, but someday), Disney will sell Splash Mountain merchandise again.

They have no real morals and were too cowardly to say why they were ditching it, so they can pretend it was a routine removal for random reasons and cash in on that sweet, sweet nostalgia money.

1. New Tomorrowland for Disneyland and magic kingdom starting in the early 2030s and finishing around 2035.​
2. Another marvel ride for California adventure replaces the animation academy.​
3. Moana ride for Adventureland at the magic kingdom.​
4. Pecos bill retheme. DTB thinks it’s going to be cars.​
5. Spaceship earth overhaul. It has to happen at some point due the bad state of the track.​
6. Something inside out comes to Epcot. I don’t know if it’s the wonders of life or if it replaces figment but it’s a foregone conclusion that they do something with inside out.​
7. Speaking of figment it’s possible a series of short films replaces the Disney and Pixar film festival.​
8. New nighttime entertainment for animal kingdom. Hopefully a drone show.​
9. Another new ride for animal kingdom.​
10. Animation courtyard replacement. Could be anything honestly.​
11. New muppets show replacing the villains show. Sadly it’s not muppet version.​
12. Something happens to tower of terror. Right now I think Disney could be waiting to see if the new movie is a success. In the event that is I could see them removing the more direct references to the twilight zone and replacing them with stuff from the movie. If it fails I would expect something more drastic.​
13. Star tours replacement in Tokyo Disneyland after space mountain reopens.​
14. Possible Star Wars area at Disneyland Paris behind discovery land.​
15. an alternative possibility is that they decide to clone the Indiana Jones ride t the adventure land expansion pad.​
16. A third new land for Disney adventure world.​
17. Something new at Shanghai Disneyland. They have been pretty aggressive with expansion over there. As for what it could be the launch bay/ marvel thing could be replaced with a ride. Or maybe it’s too small. I honestly don’t know.​
