World of Disney's effects have been broken for a long time

World of Disney at Disney Springs has minor effects throughout it, mainly moving images on the walls. A nice, fun little touch that made the store stand out.

They've been broken for at least two years at this point.

First, we have the big bank of registers: for this effect, normally Tinkerbell will fly out of a paint jar, fly to one of the images, and hit it with pixie dust, briefly animating it. This has had a huge variety of problems over the two years, including but not limited to upside down images, Tinkerbell's projection stuttering then blinking out of existence, and all the images being squished into one frame. In this photo below, taken today, you can see that one image is blank, as well as the back of the shelving (it's supposed to look like wood). I think Tinkerbell might have been turned off entirely, as images just moved at random:

On the other register bank, you see movie posters. Normally they move in small ways and occasionally change to different posters. These breaking is more recent, but it's definitely been at least a few months and the poor treatment of the other ones doesn't give me much hope they'll fix it. The images flicker and here is an image of one just flat out blank

Finally, on the sales floor, you can find some sketches on the wall. They're supposed to move occasionally; they do not anymore. No picture really needed for that one.

Every time I'm in Springs I pop in to check and, again, it has been roughly two years of this stuff being very obviously broken. If they don't plan to fix it then they should at least shut it off and replace the projected/screen images with real ones so it isn't very obvious that something is wrong.

I agree that these items should be repaired. Once they have been experienced by guests who remember how they operated, they are missed. But they aren't critical to the operation of the store and most guests who never saw the running implements don't know what they are missing. Dis doesn't want to spend the time or money on something that isnt critical, attraction related, or attracts guests in. It would be different if the items kept the guests away from dropping their money in the store, but it has no influence on paying guests. Maybe there will come a time when they will justify a fix but there's no critical reason to do so now.
If it doesn't affect the profit, it isn't worth looking at.

That store also has a roof that has been leaking since the last major renovations and so far their only fix is a bucket and warning cones. One of the CMs was complaining about it to me during one of my last trips. It was when their AC had stopped working in 100+ temps and it was causing people, including me, to get lightheaded.

This has been annoying me as well, when I get time I plan on writing GR. I also mentioned it in a recent survey they sent me about my visit to Disney Springs. We really shouldn’t have to bother them to maintain their effects but I guess it’s become necessary. If you also want to share this disappointment with them please email guest.services@disneyworld.com. You will get a generic response but they do forward it off to the right people. You could also visit Guest Relations to tell them in person.

I say that every single time I go into that store 😂 It felt more Disney and more magical. It was so great to get off of the bus at that stop and be greeted by happy Disney music and be greated by the large Genie. Marketplace section doesn't feel the same at all anymore.
Ever since Once Upon a Toy got butchered to one store it was not as fun as it used to be..

In the Haunted Mansion at the Graveyard area, there’s a night watchman holding up a lantern. He has his dog with him and the dog is whimpering and shaking watching the activity. The pooch used to be lit up, but that light hasn’t been working for years. If you were a first time HM rider, you wouldn’t know the little dog was there because it’s so dark.

Call me ol fashion...But I miss the old way it used to look.

There's zero comparison. It now looks like a bland Target warehouse by comparison. I still miss the old look.
I feel the same way too. The old version felt like walking into a wonderland, and I have missed it ever since the change to just another store.

Definitely a more fun store in years past.
It was like the old “pink and green” mall Disney Store I was a CM at. Everything above the 7’ line, above all the wall fixtures, were big fig animated movie scenes…some even with moving parts.
It was all big and beautiful, and a bit over-the-top, maybe ;), but that’s what made it so fun…!!! :)

I always felt like Kevin McCallister from Home Alone 2 walking into Duncan's Toy Chest store. Just so much to take in with all the decor, displays, etc. It was more than shopping, but an experience.

Over-the-Top works for destination stores like World of Disney.
Basic, generic, ordinary works for local chains.
Somehow, Disney forgot what this store was supposed to be.

Indeed.
And yea, I remember more than one young child running into the mall Disney Store I was a CM at and exclaiming “It’s Disney World…!!!!!!! :joyfull:
It was just so different than any other store in the mall, and it was awesome…it wasn’t an easy job (I was in my mid 40’s-early 50’s), as I did much shipment and other physical work there, but I really enjoyed being a Disney Store CM, and was even a Lead Manager for 1+ year, before my old architectural firm rehired me…!!! :)
