My brain is trying to figure out what the attraction ensemble would look like for a park themed to Florida.

"The Hall Of Florida Man"
Animatronics of stereotypical Florida men line the stage in HoP fashion, wearing stained undershirts and blue jeans, holding beer and talking about their latest misdemeanor involving alligators...

"Arachnids Bigger Than Your Hand Jamboree"

"Journey Into Your Dropped Home Insurance Coverage: Starring Figment"

"The 3:00 pm Torrential Rain Downpour, Performed Daily on Main Street"

"Enchanted Tales From Mar-A-Lag.... Nope. Not touching that one.

Plus for a slight upcharge "Black Mold, The Blob in Your Home"

Better off renaming Animal Kingdom to Adventure Kingdom given the fact it's the Adventureland of the Resort while MK is Fantasyland and Epcot is Tomorrowland...And DHS is the Abnomly of the resort..

You left out the most likely to happen... The real location of "Gone with the Wind". More of a sidebar attached to the Dropped Insurance converge.

I can kind of see it -- Everglades, the Keys, St. Augustine, Miami (Art Deco district?). Not sure what else, though.

Still significantly lacking compared to the variety possible with California, though.

I agree that the diversity of California's cultures and landscapes was what made DCA work (or would have worked if more money had been put into the park from the beginning).

I can see a Florida themed park being possible with enough creativity, but it would probably feel a lot more homogenous than DCA. That said, speaking broadly to everyone on this thread, if I were to give it a shot and suggest lands:

  1. The park's "Mainstreet USA" could be called something like "Sunshine Way" and reuse the DCA post-card entrance concept (perhaps a sunset and a lighthouse?). You could probably create a "Mainstreet" out of concepts like historical Tampa or a Key West aesthetic, but those could probably anchor lands on their own.
  2. I think an Everglades land is a given. Maybe a "swamp" dark ride, incorporate airboats into an artificial river and throw in a hurricane simulator while teaching about Florida's bio-diversity.
  3. Perhaps "La Florida" could be a smaller land covering Spanish exploration of the peninsula that takes inspiration from St. Augustine. I would throw in a pirate themed attraction (or if you really wanted to tie it back to Disney IP, make it a different Pirates of the Caribbean attraction based on the films)
  4. A land that covers historic Florida and pays tribute to famous architects that have guided the Mediterranean or Spanish Revival styles that define much of the state. I have no concepts for attractions but I think the theme is an interesting starting place.
  5. A Florida "beach" land that covers either Key West, or the culture of Florida beach kitsch that you find along the coasts.

I think with the right era of Imagineering and budget, an interesting park is feasible.

Take it easy, friend, he didn't murder your family! (I assume...)

That said, I do think it's telling that there has been no corroboration of this whatsoever. I'll be curious to hear what Jim Shull says... (ducks and runs for cover)
people go on their lame vlogs or podcasts and make crap up all the time. It’s a clickbait world. I remember when you had to look at screamscapes website for this junk 😂

But any hint of “new park” should be dismissed without pause. The cost and returns just don’t equate. That was determined in 1999 after Dak opened…and has only gotten more obvious since.

Who says the idea was considered recently? and besides even if it isn’t true still makes for a fun thread

Based on the original comment, I don't think they were suggesting Disney was planning one now. I read it as they had some vague ideas for one maybe back in the 90s or early 2000s.
