Space Mountain took 2+ years.

I'm not saying they don't take WAY too long to build things, but its not that new of an occurrence.
25 and 1/2 half months to build something at the time that had never been done before.

They built Epcot in 3 years.

They're on year 6 of building an outdoor seating area at Woody's Lunchbox.

That's awesome. I shared on another thread that I would be in favor with a Space Mountain rebuild ala Tokyo. I think if they really want to do a "New Tomorrowland" then doing something like in Tokyo would be great.

I also think that "right of passage" line is true, but now there are so many other coasters that fit that mid-level entry coaster experience that I think Space should become more intense to be another right of passage.

Plus, with no IP attached, it is the perfect ride to have its draw be primarily the thrill.

the peoplemover would have to close and be re-routed as well, but that could be interesting if it were expanded and ran through/around TRON as well

Person: Hey look at these cool pictures!

The Usual Suspects: Hmm how do I ruin another thread with my usual nonsense.
It's actually really smart, nostalgia bait the low-information cupcake crowd so that they can gloss over decades of neglect of an attraction that desperately needs an overhaul.
That‘s easy: outright lie or greatly exaggerate the actual truth.
You're right Disney is not changing enough, especially for their new "high quality" experiences.

I feel like Tron next door kinda fills that role of being a more thrilling counterpart to Space. I’d rather they just improve the current experience with new effects and a track replacement

Congrats on being so jaded that you created a non-existing argument about the current state of a ride when the post was about celebrating the building and opening of a classic ride.

Oh and thanks for providing a post that shows either outright lying or greatly exaggerating the actual truth:

This brings back fond memories of when Disney could build good things in a matter of months, instead of mostly mediocre things in a half decade or more.

Example of a post that is either outright lying or exaggerating the actual truth:
So just in the last two years we've got....
The "new" Epcot.
The Communicore Airport Lounge
The Generic Poly Tower.
The 58 Seconds cloned Tron attraction.
Tianna Breakdown Adventure.

That's the best that Disney can do?

Here are some historic photos to distract you from the mess that Space Mountain is now.

I would bet some of the accumulated dust inside Space Mountain is older than most people on this forum.
