I feel like Tron next door kinda fills that role of being a more thrilling counterpart to Space. I also think that "right of passage" line is true, but now there are so many other coasters that fit that mid-level entry coaster experience that I think Space should become more intense to be another right of passage.
Plus, with no IP attached, it is the perfect ride to have its draw be primarily the thrill.
