That's awesome. I shared on another thread that I would be in favor with a Space Mountain rebuild ala Tokyo. I think if they really want to do a "New Tomorrowland" then doing something like in Tokyo would be great.

I also think that "right of passage" line is true, but now there are so many other coasters that fit that mid-level entry coaster experience that I think Space should become more intense to be another right of passage.

Plus, with no IP attached, it is the perfect ride to have its draw be primarily the thrill.

the peoplemover would have to close and be re-routed as well, but that could be interesting if it were expanded and ran through/around TRON as well

I feel like Tron next door kinda fills that role of being a more thrilling counterpart to Space. I’d rather they just improve the current experience with new effects and a track replacement

The ride needs the skin peeled back and a complete redo…which it will NEVER get.

I love space for what it is…but it’s a really outdated ride system at this point.

I’d like to see them do an updated/modified version of Paris space…with new tech and tricks. Dump the double track design.

Put some “hair” on it.

But at a minimum…it should be completely replaced down to the swamp studs

It was designed and fabricated with pencil drawings…

…it had no computer assistance in the design/modeling/fabrication process…

It had to be welded into place using a century year old construction practice when now things are cut in a factory by computer controlled equipment down to the micrometer


Oh…and it was designed and built as essentially the second tubular steel rollercoaster…opening at the same time as the first corkscrew at knotts

And also: they weren’t allowed to slow roll a schedule for 5+ years so they could slap “coming soon” on the screen at their comic con or “new” for 5 years after that to sell lightning genie ++

That Donn Tatum was practically an Egyptian slave driver…

Would love to see the people mover expanded to go further out but I doubt we'll ever see that happen and I'm not dunking on current management for that one, either.

I think from just about any business perspective, this doesn't make sense because it would be a costly update that would make the ride longer but wouldn't increase hourly capacity so they're left with something that's not a new attraction to promote, with additional track to maintain and which doesn't offset crowds much more than the current ride (besides keeping people on it a minute or so longer, maybe)... meanwhile, it would have to close for an unspecified amount of time for the addition.

As much as I'd really love to see this, I'd settle for them bringing back the Space Mountain view and doing some sort of update - just about anything really - to the small show areas. The model is fine but the other spots really could use something.

2026 should be the year SM and Spaceship Earth both get a major overhaul. They're both the most due and deserving of it. Plus it would allow Disney to keep up with the trend of ensuring one major ride in both parks is down at all times.
